Finding the Right Church for You

What should you look for in a truly-great congregation?

1) The right church for you will have as its spiritual foundation none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul substantiates that in 1 Cor 3:11: “For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Worry about churches who have men and women they honor more than the Lord.

2) The right church for you will have an ongoing fulfillment of Christ’s Great Commission. Jesus commanded us, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them... and teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” Hey, that was not a suggestion! It was an order!

3) The right church for you will have a deep commitment to the integrity of God’s Word. Theology will not be a suspicious word to those believers. The Scriptures teach us, “If you point out these things, you will be a good minister of Christ.”

4) The right church for you will have sound and mature leadership. Again from the Apostle Paul: “Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

5) The right church for you will be a praying community of believers. The parishioners will know about the altar. They will be able to tell you what intercession means.

Now once you’ve found such a church, stick with it. Don’t be a church hopper. Commitment is a jewel! Commitment to Christ and His bride, the Church! Be a faithful disciple of the Master. Be a tither. Be strength to the body.
