Angpao's Miraculous Healing with Superbook
Before coming to faith in Jesus, Angpao and his family were deeply concerned about his chronic health issues. Angpao, a 10-year-old boy from Thailand, suffered from severe allergies and generally weak health. The doctors suggested that surgery might help, but it wasn’t a guaranteed cure. The alternative was to seek expensive specialist treatments, which the family simply couldn’t afford. So, they waited for nearly two years, turning to various religious practices in search of a solution for Angpao’s ailments.
Everything changed when Angpao encountered the story of Jesus through the animated series Superbook. The episode “Miracles of Jesus,” which depicted Jesus calming storms, healing the sick, and making the lame walk, filled Angpao with hope and confidence that God could heal him too.
After a few months of believing in Jesus, Angpao’s parents noticed remarkable changes in their son. His persistent runny nose started to clear up, his hearing improved, and he began to read and speak more clearly. Angpao was convinced that God was listening to his prayers and taking care of him. Inspired by his own experience, he started inviting his school friends to church to watch Superbook with him.
The true test of their faith came on May 1, the day scheduled for Angpao’s ear surgery. The family took a taxi to the hospital, praying together and believing in God’s healing power. Upon arrival, the doctor conducted a hearing test and was astonished to find that Angpao’s hearing had returned to normal. The surgery was no longer necessary. Overjoyed, Angpao celebrated in the examination room and asked his parents to buy him fried insects—a treat that previously triggered severe allergic reactions. To everyone’s amazement, Angpao ate the insects without any negative effects. It was a miraculous healing by God.
Angpao expressed his excitement about his transformation. “When I couldn’t hear well and had a runny nose, I was very unhappy. My friends teased me. But now, my life has changed a lot. I want to invite my friends to church. I want them to know that God listens to our prayers and performs miracles to help us.”
Angpao’s mother, with tears of joy, shared her relief and newfound peace. “I used to worry about my child’s health and our family’s finances. I often visited temples and sacred places to pray for a better life, but none of those sacred things seemed to help. I work as a temporary employee, and sometimes when contracts end there are periods of unemployment which affect our family’s livelihood. I worried about my husband’s health, especially since he had COVID-19 four times, which left him easily fatigued. But now, I don’t worry about anything. I can entrust my life every day to God.” Today, Angpao’s parents are training to become Sunday school teachers, eager to share the stories of Superbook and the message of faith that transformed their lives.
