Superbook Brings the Gospel to Cañas
In the heart of Cañas, a small town in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, something beautiful unfolded at the beginning of March. What began as a weekend of community service turned into a powerful encounter with God’s love—thanks to a partnership between Superbook, Operation Blessing, and a local church.
The event was centered around a mobile medical clinic, offering physical healing to the community. But alongside the clinic, a different kind of healing was taking place—one for the soul.
On Saturday, the Superbook team set up a vibrant and welcoming space for children. The area had colorful decorations and a table where the children could draw and paint. The team played the powerful Superbook episode “A Giant Adventure”—which tells the story of David and Goliath. The Superbook stand became a place of joy, creativity, and transformation. Children and parents alike gathered to hear the message of salvation, shared in a way that was simple, engaging, and deeply meaningful.
As one Superbook team member described it, it was “a service for the healing of the soul with an invitation to meet Jesus.”
The impact continued on Sunday with a Superbook watch party inside the church. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as families from the community joined in. After a fun icebreaker, the children watched the episode “Baptized!”, which tells the story of Chris and Joy introducing their friend Ellie to Jesus—a perfect way to present the Gospel message.
Using a Superbook themed illustrated guide to the Gospel and a brochure about how to receive salvation, the team shared the Good News in a way that was clear and heartfelt. The children also received their own copy of these resources to take home with them. And of course, no Superbook event would be complete without a visit from Gizmo, who brought smiles and laughter as he led the children in dancing to the Salvation Poem.
The result? A moment that will be remembered for years to come.
“All the people who participated showed great interest,” shared a Superbook team member, “Everyone was very attentive to hear about Jesus, and as a result we saw the mission accomplished because some of them—big and small—gave their lives to Jesus.”
Out of the ten children who attended, nine made the decision to accept Jesus into their hearts.
This weekend in Cañas was more than an outreach—it was a celebration of God’s love reaching into the lives of children and families through the power of storytelling, community, and faith.
CBN Animation’s Superbook continues to bring the Bible to life for children around the world, helping them understand who Jesus is and how much he loves them.
