A Light in the Mountains

In the highlands of Gracias a Dios, a small mountain community in Honduras with limited resources but abundant warmth, something beautiful unfolded on a Thursday in May. Thirteen children gathered at a local school for a special CBN Animation’s Superbook event—an experience that would plant seeds of faith and hope in their hearts.

This outreach was part of a series of interventions aligned with Operation Blessing’s Community Health Volunteer (CHV) program, which brings holistic care to underserved areas. The featured Superbook episode, The Ten Commandments,” became the foundation for a day filled with learning, creativity, and spiritual transformation.

Through engaging storytelling and hands-on activities, the children learned about the importance of loving God, loving others, and obeying his commandments—no matter what others may say. The message was simple but profound: obedience brings blessing, while disobedience leads to negative consequences.

The event also ran alongside the “I Say No” program, reinforcing values of personal safety and moral clarity. The children were fully engaged—watching the episode closely, answering questions, singing songs, and winning prizes for memorizing the SuperVerse (memory verse) and reciting the SuperTruth (main lesson takeaway).

Though Gracias a Dios is the smallest community visited in this outreach series, its people welcomed the team with open hearts and deep gratitude. In places like this, spiritual resources are rare, making every visit a cherished blessing.

Each child received a Superbook kit, a Ten Commandments sheet, and a craft activity tailored to their grade level. Younger students created a colorful Ten Commandments Wheel, while older ones assembled a Ten Commandments Mini-Book. Teachers were encouraged to follow up with review sessions to reinforce the lesson and complete the crafts.

But the most powerful moment came when 10 of the 13 children prayed the prayer of faith, accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They asked him to forgive their sins and enter their hearts.

The team members expressed their joy and gratitude over the miracle of new life in the hearts of the children, who can now call themselves children of God.

This is the heart of Superbook: reaching children in every corner of the world with the love of Jesus, the truth of Scripture, and the hope of salvation. From mountain villages to urban schools, Superbook is transforming lives—one story, one child, one heart at a time.

As one Superbook team member shared, “It is a blessing and a privilege to bring the good news of salvation to each of these communities and to every place God allows us to reach.”
