Sudanese Mom Met with Celebration at US Airport
The Christian woman sentenced to death in Sudan for refusing to renounce her faith is now safely home in the United States.
Meriam Ibrahim and her family were met with singing and celebration when they arrived in New Hampshire last week.
From escaping Sudan to meeting the pope in Rome and finally arriving in the U.S. where her husband Daniel Wani is a citizen, Ibrahim's life has been a whirlwind the last week.
She, her husband, and their two young children, one of whom she gave birth to while shackled in prison, had to stop first on a layover in Philadelphia, where she met privately with Mayor Michael Nutter.
CBN News spoke with Nutter about her condition.

"She is tremendously strong...her faith gives her almost a certain aura about her," Nutter said. "The ordeal that she and her family had been through and to come to this city of faith... I talked about William Penn and the founding of Philadelphia... on the tenants of religious freedom, and tolerance, and openness and the ability to practice your faith, and both of them smiled."
Ibrahim was sentenced to death but released after an international outcry for her freedom.
The Sudanese government claimed she abandoned Islam when she married her Christian husband, but Ibrahim ssaid she's always been a Christian.
