Why Do I Still Feel Guilty?
I’ve asked God to forgive me of my sins. So why do I still feel guilty?
The Bible declares that “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
Therefore, we can go through the emotion of asking God for forgiveness of sin, but it is in our belief and faith in the power of the blood of Christ that cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
We need to believe that through the atoning sacrifice of Christ’s blood we have been truly set free from the bondage of sin, death and shame once and for all, making it null and void forevermore. The Word of God says that our transgressions have been forgiven and forgotten and that God has removed them from our lives as far as the East is from the West to be remembered no longer.
Jesus our High Priest paid the highest price and redeemed us from the works of the flesh and darkness (the Devil) and has brought us into the kingdom of His light, the light of His presence. When we are in the continual presence of the Lord, sin cannot reside nor does it have any authority in us.
Furthermore, if we have truly accepted Christ and His Spirit dwells in us by faith through salvation, He will quicken us and set us free from the shame as well as the sin itself through faith in Him.
Essentially, it is our faith in the finished work of the Cross and the blood of Jesus Christ that we believe we are redeemed from the curse of sin forevermore. Therefore, if we just believe that He is who He says He is and we truly believe that His blood has power to save from sin and deliver us from all unrighteousness, than the Word states that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. To believe contrary would be lack of faith and what the Bible calls sin.
God is faithful. The Word says in
and 2:1-2, “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the BLOOD of Jesus Christ His son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sings and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the “propitiation” for our sin’s and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
In conclusion, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and the power of His blood to take away not only your sin, but guilt and shame forevermore. He truly is faithful and just to forgive. Just accept it by faith, turn from any lifestyle that would allow you to compromise, and receive His perfect love that will cast out all your fears and doubts.
