“The Girl with a Bad Heart”

Growing up, Xinyue was known in her village as the girl with a bad heart.

“Everyone stayed away from her,” her mother shares.  “She didn’t have an artery on the left side of her heart, so her blood circulation was bad.”

Mrs. Zhao’s husband abandoned the family, leaving Mrs. Zhao to raise their daughter alone.  Xinyue tried to help her mom, but she couldn’t do much without getting sick.

Mrs. Zhao explains, “She wiped the table and windows and tried to get water for the sheep.”

“My heart hurt a lot. It was like a hammer pounding on my chest,” Xinyue exclaims.

“I felt sorry for Xinyue,” says Mrs. Zhou.  “She just colored and played with cats and sheep and chickens.  I heard her telling them, ‘You’re my good friends.’  It broke my heart to see her so isolated.  It wasn’t good for her.”

Once, she ended up with a bad infection and had to stay in the hospital for over a month.

Her mother recalls, “She was prone to catch colds, which often led to pneumonia, but the root cause was her heart disease.”

Mrs. Zhao got a second job at a restaurant and sold sheep to pay for Xinyue’s medical bills and save money for surgery.

“She had no strength,” Mrs. Zhao remembers.  “I always checked to see if she was still breathing.  I was afraid she might die at any moment.  Xinyue was panting heavily, and her lips were turning purple.”  Mrs. Zhao tears up, “She’s my treasure.  I wouldn’t give up on her, no matter what.  I cried and begged the Bodhisattva to save my daughter, and I prayed to the Tibetan king.”

Nothing changed until she met a Christian who gave her hope.

“He told me about Jesus and prayed for my child,” exclaims Mrs. Zhao.  “And I started to experience God’s love and peace.”

Xinyue adds, “My mom said that Jesus is the true God and I can pray to him.  I believed and asked him to take away my sickness.”

Soon, a nurse told Mrs. Zhao about Operation Blessing, and you helped make heart surgery possible for Xinyue.

“Xinyue is healthy now,” proclaims Mrs. Zhao.  “She always has a smile on her face and people like to be around her.”

Xinyue declares, “My heart doesn't hurt anymore.  I’m so happy.”

“I told her it's Jesus Christ who gave her a second chance on life.  God used Operation Blessing to help us,” says Mrs. Zhao.

Xinyue concludes, “Operation Blessing is like an angel.  God sent you to heal me.”
