Abandoned! He Needed a Hero

Seven-year-old Jianguo wants to be a firefighter when he grows up.

“Firefighters are heroes,” he explains.  “They save lives and help people.”

Jianguo is an orphan who, for a long time, wanted someone to rescue him.  He was born with only one atrium in his heart.  His arteries were out of place and he struggled to breathe, so his parents abandoned him.  He’s lived at an orphanage most of his life, where a woman he calls “Auntie” looks out for him.

She cries, “Watching him broke my heart.  He couldn’t exercise.  If you put your hand on his chest, it felt like someone was beating a drum.  And because he lacked oxygen, his lips turned purple.  So did his fingers and toes.”

Since he was sick a lot, he stayed away from the other children.

“I was very lonely.  My heart disease made me feel bad.  And I missed my mom and dad,” he shares.  “One day, I had a really high fever and felt very cold.  Everyone was wearing short sleeves, and I was still shivering under the blanket. : I was afraid I’d die.”

He ended up at the hospital.

“The doctor said his life was in danger,” reports his Auntie from the orphanage.  “I told him, ‘You need to be strong.  You can endure the pain.’”

Jianguo shares, “My teacher said that surgery was the only way for me to get better.”

“Because of his continuous fever, his inflammation was  severe,” his teacher says.  “His heart disease could lead to heart failure, organ failure and sudden death.”

His teacher is a Christian and had been sharing God’s love with Jiangou for years.

“I told him stories about several characters from the Bible. He liked listening to them,” she explains.

Jianguo exclaims, “I believed that God loves me and that He would heal me.”

His teacher adds, “I prayed for Jianguou and asked that God would personally provide a way for him to get surgery.  Then the hospital told us about Operation Blessing, and I said, ‘Great… this must be from God.’”

Soon, you helped make surgery possible for Jianguo.

“I am completely healed and don’t have pain anymore,” declares Jianguo.

His Auntie says, “You have given Jianguo a new life.  He has a bright future  now.”

“He’s happy every day.  He can exercise, eat, and play with the other children,” shares his teacher.

He’s also learning more about God through CBN’s Superbook.

“I like Joy and Gizmo, and how Superbook takes them on adventures,” Jianguo proclaims.  “I tell everyone the story of how Jesus died for us and saved us, how the Heavenly Father heals, and how Jesus is my hero, and Operation Blessing is my hero, too.”
