Some people will do anything for publicity

This week, Code Pink is at it again, protesting in front of the Marine Recruiting Station in Berkley, California. What's really unfortunate is that outrages like these have become so commonplace that they are no longer outrages -- just one more bizarre event in a long, strange parade we call the news.

I was thinking today what a great degree of optimism on the part of the Marines that they even bothered to open a recruiting center in Berkeley, California. And I'd really like to see what their recruiting numbers are. But considering that many of these same Marines have faced much tougher resistance in places like Ramadi and Fallujah, a gaggle of silly protesters must seem, to these seasoned warriors, quite amusing.

Fortunately, as I saw firsthand last week while touring with Oliver North to promote our new book, American heroes, for every Cindy Sheehan or wacky anti-war protester, there are hundreds of fiercely patriotic who will go far out of their way to show support for the troops any way they can.

Unfortunately, however, optimism and proud Americans don't get any airtime. But rest assured, our soldiers know you're out there. Please continue to pray for our men and women in harm's way, and while you're at it, pray for Code Pink- - that at least a few of them would someday come to see the irony in protesting the very honorable men whose job it is to protect the right to protest in the first place.
