CBN.com Nashville, TN (August 14, 2006) - - Bright and early Tuesday morning, brand new live music from Shawn McDonald will be available on SonyConnect.com, featuring an eight-song collection from an exclusive acoustic set captured during Shawn’s recent performance at Sony Connect studios. The Sony Connect Set offers the first recorded listen of “Hush,” a song rabidly requested by fans, but never recorded until now. Since adding the song to his live shows, diehard fans on MySpace and fan blogs are talking about the song, exhibiting an insatiable appetite for new Shawn McDonald music.

The Shawn McDonald Sony Connect Set also features an especially poignant performance of “Gravity,” from McDonald’s first record, Simply Nothing. Shelly Hartman, Label Relations Manager/Editor of Sony Connect explains, “I requested that Shawn McDonald record a special live Sony Connect Set for Connect.com because he is one of the most amazing live performers I’ve seen in a long time. Having someone as talented as Shawn perform for just a few people in our studio was truly a special treat. The performance was so intimate and touching, he actually made one of our interns cry while singing “Gravity”.

Shawn McDonald has a loyal and active fan base who keeps in touch with him through his MySpace page, where he has more than 51,000 MySpace ‘friends’ to date. Fans will have the opportunity to experience Shawn’s unique performance style ‘live’ this fall, when he returns to the US from England’s Greenbelt Festival for The “Ripen” Tour which includes shows stretching from California to Florida and up into the Northeast.

In the last five months, the 26-year old has been featured on CNN, the New York Times and on July 28, an entertainment feature on McDonald for the Chicago Tribune discussed the artist’s unique approach to touring, his craft and his latest “acoustic smorgasbord,” Ripen, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. The music feature went on to say that, “McDonald on "Ripen" continues to explore the impact of beauty, freedom and redemption--the same forces that fuel the artist's life.”

“I never have a set list, and I never play the same show twice," says Shawn, and this fall, Napster Live will feature a unique live audio performance and interview, placing McDonald on the prominent site alongside Ray LaMontagne, Natasha Bedingfield and John Legend. The taping includes unique instruments and arrangements and ranks McDonald as the first EMI CMG artist to record a session for the site.
