The Perfect Game That Wasn't!
Last night in Detroit, Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga had 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, one out away from baseball’s 21st perfect game and the third one this season. By now, you know the rest of the story. He was robbed of the perfect game when the first base umpire botched a call! So now, more than ever, the debate is back in the cross hairs on whether or not baseball should allow instant replay on disputed calls? They currently allow it for controversial home run calls, but that is all. The NFL instituted instant replay years ago, and reversed calls are now a part of almost every football game. Galarraga was denied his chance to be part of the fraternity that only 20 other baseball players have joined – the perfect game pitchers. Can this wrong be righted?
