More Room at the Orphanage
CBN.com —After their parents died, 10-year-old Sok and her two sisters were forced to make it on their own. They lived in this old abandoned grass hut in Cambodia. Every day became a struggle to survive.
Sok: “Life was so hard. We never had enough to eat. I also had to stop going to school.”
Ry: “I felt hopeless. We had no relatives who could help us.”
A member of a Christian church in Cambodia tried to find a place for Sok and her siblings to live, but the local orphanage was already too full with no room for even one more child. A local pastor is the director there.
Pastor Sokhom: “We had no money to build a bigger place. We prayed for a new house every day.”
That’s when CBN’s Orphan’s Promise offered to help. We built a new dormitory with one floor for the girls, and another for boys. We also built a dining hall where the children get three meals every day. And the best news of all, the sisters were all able to come and live there after the buildings were finished.
Sok: “My life is so different now! They take very good care of us here.”
Pastor Sokhom: “Without the help of CBN’s orphan’s promise, we would not have been able to take in the 80 children who now live here.”
Ry: “I’m glad that my sisters have enough food to eat and go to school. Most of all, I’m very happy that we’re all able to live together as a family!”
