A Little Brother’s Mysterious Pain
CBN.com —Eight-year-old Zong Xiang takes care of his three-year-old brother Zhou Xun while his grandparents work long hours in the field. Xiang always enjoyed his big-brother responsibilities--- until Zhou Xun got sick.
Zong Xiang remembers, “My little brother had a very bad stomachache. He just sat there, crouching on the ground – and he could not stand up. I was really worried about him!!!”
Xun’s grandmother says, “Zhou Xun said he was in a lot of pain. We thought maybe he just ate something that was not fresh.”
His grandparents took him to the hospital, where a doctor prescribed some medication. But Zong Xiang thought that maybe his little brother’s stomachaches were the result of bad water!
“I gave him a lot of warnings,” Zong Xiang states. “I remember telling him to please not drink any water unless it was boiled--- but he’s only three, and I know there were times he didn’t listen.”
After some testing, a doctor confirmed it. Zhou Xun had been drinking contaminated water from the family’s old, shallow well!
“That really worried me,” says Xun’s grandpa. “Because I didn’t have money to dig a deeper well.”
The family was afraid that over time, the bad water would permanently damage Xun’s digestive track. But their fears disappeared when CBN came to their poor village, and dug a deeper, safer well for little Xun and his family.
“The well CBN dug is 12 meters deep,” Xun’s grandpa exclaims with a smile. “That’s double the depth of our old well!!! With a well this deep, we will always have good clean, water!”
Now, Zong Xiang doesn’t have to ever worry about his little brother getting sick from bad water again!
