John and Mary Jo: 'Trust in the Lord'

CBN.com Life is good for John and Mary Jo Vangrinsven. They live in the Wisconsin dairyland with their two beautiful, adopted daughters.

"They’re just so special that they’re something that is a gift from God,” Mary Jo said. “I think of it as a treasure.”

But years ago they faced a financial nightmare when John lost his job.

“I got laid off on my job,” he said. “And it was very tempting to bring our tithing level down and maybe even stop altogether just because financially it was difficult.”

They put their dreams on hold and cut back spending on everything, except tithing and giving to the 700 Club. In fact, just months earlier, they had increased their pledge to CBN from $20 to $40 a month.

“I said to Mary Jo, ‘Do we really trust the Lord and what He says, or don’t we? We’ve got to continue tithing,’” said John.

“And we decided that we would still continue to tithe and make ends meet the best we could,” said Mary Jo.

God provided for their every need. And less than a year later John landed a new job that paid nearly three times his old salary!

But even in their financial turnaround, John and Mary Jo decided to give even more. They gave of their lives, their home, and their hearts to two little girls from China named Nicole and Danielle.

It was through The 700 Club that the couple learned about the adoption agency that lead them to their daughters.

“When you see that child for the first time and hold them in your arms and just know they’re yours forever, it’s just overwhelming,” she said. “It’s indescribable.”

They encourage others to catch the vision of CBN, because they believe that giving to CBN is an investment in eternity.

“It just comes down to faith,” said John. “Do you actually believe in what you’re doing? Do you believe in the Lord when he says, ‘give and it’ll be given unto you’?”
