It’s a Bad MadWorld
Violence Is The Name Of The Game

MadWorld, the first game to be developed by Platinum Games, has become one of the most disturbing games I have ever played. The game takes place in a futuristic world where violence and mayhem make good TV. It is reminiscent of the movie Running Man with Arnold Schwerzaneger where one man enters into the arena to bring down the system.
The soul purpose of the game is to kill, and Platinum Games makes it easy. Every fight has the potential to end in a brutal kill which is a simple button press and flick of the wrist. The game is a simple black and white with red being the only color ever appearing on screen. And believe me you will see a lot of red.
Gratuitous Violence
MadWorld holds true to the old adage violence for violence sake. Never heard of that one? That’s because it doesn’t exist. The over the top violence that comes at you in ceaseless waves has a tendency to make the player ill.
Within the first 30 minutes of game play the main character had painted the town red, literally. MadWorld takes the interactivity of the Wii to the next level. You still push buttons to attack enemies and jump, but to perform special takedowns requires specific swings of both remote and nun-chuck. One move has you attack a guy and when prompted push the B button to get him on his knees as you swing the controllers apart to grab his head and spin it like a top on his shoulders.
That’s the name of the Game
Violence is the key to the city in MadWorld. In order to progress through the game world and unlock new areas you have to kill, kill, kill. It is disturbing the things they have you do. The characters went with a black and white look to the game but that only accentuates the violence more.
MadWorld is a game worth its mature rating and is one of the most violent games I have ever played. Be aware that this game makes no apologies for its content.
Christians especially need to be mindful of this game due to its graphic nature and guaranteed desensitization towards the violence and blood on the screen.
Final Word
MadWorld simply isn’t a game worth playing. The over-the-top violence and finishers become a disturbing mess as the game progresses. Impaling, decapitation, heart removal, just some words to describe what you will be bombarding your senses with as you play this game. I cannot give enough warning to stay away, this game is a guaranteed desensitizer.
