Healed from Within
CBN.com Nasir Iqbal was alone the morning a young man walked into his convenience store in New York City.
“I asked him, ‘Can I help you?’ Nasir said. “He turned and said to me, ‘Give me your money.’”
Nasir tried to open the cash register, but it was stuck.
The man pulled out a lead pipe and beat Nasir until he was knocked unconscious. A store manager from another shop called the police, and Nasir was rushed to the hospital.
Nasir was in a coma for 22 days. The doctor told his wife that he had a traumatic brain injury and predicted a 20 to 50 percent chance of survival.
But after three weeks, Nasir woke from his coma. He suffered brain damage, and the left side of his body was completely paralyzed.
Nasir was constantly in pain, but something else troubled him more. While in the coma, he encountered a vision of Jesus – and He spoke directly to him! Nasir knew about Jesus because he went to church, but he didn’t have a personal relationship with Him.
“I saw the vision – Christ appeared to me. He said, ‘Nasir, you want to live…if you want to live you have to be born again,’ Nasir explained.
Nasir said until that moment he had never heard about being “born again.” He wondered how he could be born again. He didn’t really have anyone to help him understand.
After the vision, Nasir lost all hope. He asked a pastor to pray with him before he died. To his surprise, the pastor used the same phrase he’d heard in his vision.
“Pastor, I need a confession,” Nasir said. “He said, ‘Son, confession alone does nothing. Repent and give your heart to the Lord – you shall be saved…and you will be born again.”
So Nasir prayed and asked the Lord to come into his life. At the moment, he felt electricity pass through the paralyzed side of his body.
But doctors were not so optimistic about his future. They believed if he did not show signs of improvement in the next 90 days, he’d never fully recover.
During that time, Nasir not only improved, he witnessed a miracle in his body – a complete recovery. The medical staff was amazed by his progress.
Today Nasir and his wife and two children live in Southern California. He remains dedicated to sharing his amazing story with others.
Nasir said, “I received my healing when I gave my heart to the Lord…that changed my life. Jesus is my Lord…He is my everything.”
