Dreaming of a Way to Help

CBN.com —Pinkeo, 34, contracted polio when she was a child and has never been able to walk. Her sister has looked after her since they were very young.

“When our parents died in the war,” Pinkeo told CBN, “we had to beg for food from relatives. We were often very hungry, even starving at times.”

Because of her disability Pinkeo never went to school, but she did learn how to weave. With that skill and a borrowed loom, she didn’t earn much to help her sister’s family buy food.

“The few skirts I make are sold at a very low price because they are made of cotton thread, not silk,” said Pinkeo.

Pinkeo knew that if she had her own loom, and one other item, she could do a lot better with her small business.

“Silk thread,” she told us. “If I had silk thread, my creations would sell for much more!”

CBN gave Pinkeo her own brand new loom and lots of silk thread to expand her business. Overnight, word got out about her beautiful creations and her clothing began to sell out.

“I am now making more money than ever, and am helping with the household expenses,” she says.

In fact, Pinkeo now earns five times what she used to make when she used the old loom and thread.

“Thank you, CBN, for helping me! I wish you the best—for good health and a good future!” she said in conclusion.
