Clean Water “Miracle” for a Peruvian Community

IQUITOS, Peru – Tucked away in the jungle of Peru is a little community called El Milagro—or “Miracle.”

But when it came to their water source, this aptly named community was in desperate need of a miracle.

To reach the pond, Semira, a young mother of three, had to walk a long path through the jungle, where danger lurks beneath the dense canopy of trees.

“The path is very dangerous because of all the wild animals found here; there are many poisonous snakes that could bite us,” she explained.

And even when she can safely make the journey to collect the water, what she brings home to her three children can be just as perilous as the snakes.

“The water from this source is contaminated,” Semira said. “That’s why my children often suffer from illness, and I have no money to buy medicine. Unfortunately, the pond is our only option to get water.”

Operation Blessing installed a water purification unit giving the community of El Milagro their very own clean water source. But that changed when Operation Blessing came to El Milagro. OBI installed a water purification filter right in the middle of the community, where families like Semira and her children can safely access clean water any time.

'Thank you Operation Blessing,” Semira said. “We finally have clean and safe water; my kids will no longer be forced to drink dirty water.”

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Help break the cycle of suffering by giving toward CBN's Operation Blessing's water wells and cisterns program. A gift of $1,800 can drill a well for villages and supply families with clean drinking water.
