Broken by Crack, Restored by Prayer

Joy Clark's life was spiraling out of control. As a crack cocaine addict, she almost destroyed everything she loved, often neglecting her children for days and rejecting her husband's loving attempts to help. At times she considered committing suicide.

Sometimes she would disappear for days while high on crack. Her dependency on cocaine was so great that she once returned her daughter's new Easter dress and shoes just to get drug money.

Eventually, Joy's marriage fell apart and she lost custody of her children. But Joy's mother, a Christian, often called The 700 Club. "There were many people praying for me," says Joy.

Finally, Joy hit rock bottom. In her desperation, she asked God to take away her desire for cocaine. "I said, 'Lord, you know where I am. It's either the drug or it's me,'" she prayed. "He delivered me that day, and I never touched it again." In time, Joy was even restored to her husband and family.

Today Joy is greatful for her mother's prayers and The 700 Club. "I thank the Lord for The 700 Club," Joy says. "They're there when people call in, and I thank The 700 Club for praying for me. I thank them for being there for my mother. I know God uses them because I've seen it in my own life."
