The Brody File | Exclusive: Dungy's Role on Obama's Faith-Based Council

The Brody File has learned that former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy will be an advisor to the President on responsible father initiatives. He will not serve on President Obama's Faith Council.

A White House source tells me that Dungy could only make two out of the four scheduled faith council meetings and so it just wasn't going to work out.

A source close to Dungy gave The Brody File the following statement:

"I am honored to have been asked by the President to serve on the Council for Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. In looking at the dates of the Council meetings I would not be able to participate to the degree I would want. Because of the time commitment needed I have respectfully declined, but do look forward to working with the President in furthering responsible fatherhood and other issues we both hold dear."

As you may remember, it was earlier reported that Dungy was going to join the council and this got a lot of ink at the time. More details on that here.

Check back to The Brody File for more details on what the Faith Based Office is going to look like later tonight and tomorrow.
