CBN.com -- "Everybody said it wasn’t going to flood. And for it to come in with such a vengeance it was devastating," says Bob Teske, one of the residents hardest hit by the floods in Linton, North Dakota.

“Ninety percent of it was downstairs… family memento stuff,” Bob recalls. “Turned out this flood took the whole basement completely above the ceiling so there was nothing left. No salvageable items at all.”

“It takes a lot out of you. It brings you down,” Bob says. “It brings your body down and your spirits down and everything else so. It’s something that I wouldn’t wish on anybody.”

Like many affected by the flood, Bob had no flood insurance. Plus a fall at home left him permanently injured. He’s unable to do heavy lifting.

“You can’t go much farther you know, than your best and when you find out that’s not going to be good enough that’s pretty much you have to give up.”

Then, he received a phone call from Operation Blessing. He was next on the list to receive help for demolition and clean-up recovery. 

“They went right to work, hauling out the broken pieces – destroyed items that were just covered in raw sewage and sludge and very nasty stuff,” Bob says. “They’ve done a lot of work, a lot of back breaking work that I could never have done.”

Now, Bob has a chance to live in his home again. And it’s all thanks to the generosity of our partners.

“The people really should see what happens when they give,” Bob says. “It does a lot. It saves a lot of property. It saves a lot of people’s lives and efforts; and they should know really that their money is being very well spent.”
