A Boat For Bella

CBN.com — Bella is a hard working single mother raising two small children on her own.  After her husband abandoned them, she ran a water taxi service with an old boat that she had purchased.

But one day her brother borrowed the boat.   He overloaded it with sand and it broke apart.

“I was worried when that happened,” Bella told us. “That boat was like my right arm! If I didn’t work, how would I be able to earn money and feed my children?”

Because Bella couldn’t afford to buy a new boat, she had to rent one.  But just a few weeks later someone stole the boat she was renting!

“I got up at five o’clock one morning and the boat was GONE!” says Bella.  “I panicked.  I searched everywhere, but couldn’t find it.”

Bella had to keep making payments on the stolen boat.  She did odd jobs but she couldn’t make enough to feed the kids.

“I went to the port to carry bananas for people. I had to do it, because we ran out of money.”

When Operation Blessing met the family, we discovered that they had no food in the house. We immediately gave them a two-week supply of groceries. Bella’s son Luis was very excited!

“Tuna! Mom we are going to eat tuna!” exclaims Luis with a big smile!

A couple of days later, we bought Bella another boat and motor. We gave her the money she needed to pay off the balance on the rental boat that had been stolen. And we gave her a chain and lock to keep the new boat safe.

“I’m very grateful to Operation Blessing because they gave me a new boat, food and even paid my debt!” says a very thankful Bella.  “Because of your help, I can feed my children."
