All Bundled Up in God's Love

CBN.com Just in the past few years, Linda Brown has donated over 600 quilts to Operation Blessing’s programs for orphans, widows, and the elderly. How did all this come about? It started when she asked the Lord how she could help.

After her four children grew up, Linda Brown had a lot of time on her hands, so she decided to put her talent to good use.

"Just watching The 700 Club, I realize all the wonderful avenues of ministry," she says.

So Linda decided to donate her homemade quilts to foster homes, orphanages, and to Operation Blessing. Children in Ukraine, Burundi, and Kenya have all benefited from Linda’s generosity.

"Well, this is a typical roll of quilts. We have about five or six of them that we’re going to be sending in our next container. In Ukraine, we work with a large population of orphans, probably about 9,000," says Linda.

"As you can see, there are all kinds of colors, no two are alike. The kids love them. They’re told when they’re given them that this is made by a mother in the United States -- handmade for them.  And as a motherless child, something that a mother would make for you would be very important to them, so the kids wrap them around them, and apparently these blankets have become a treasure to these kids."

Linda is thrilled to know that in the Kenya orphanage each bed is made up with the quilts. "That just made me so happy. There is a bright spot for each of those children, to have their own colorful quilt to hopefully enjoy."

She wants the children to know that the quilts are made with her love—and that God loves them as well. And by partnering with CBN and Operation Blessing, Linda has been able to share that love.

"You know, a blankie is special to a lot of children. I hope that this would be something that they could take with them that would be truly their own," she says. "If we take what opportunity is in front of us and maybe learn to say, 'Yes' instead of 'I’m too busy,'  the Lord can use you. I have lots of kids around the world now."
