A 3-Year-Old’s Journey from Darkness to Light

Philippines

Three-year-old Catriona was born with cataracts in both eyes. Her mom, Clarissa, feared that her daughter might go blind. She said, “The doctor said the longer she went without getting eye surgery, the greater the risk that she would lose her eyesight.”

Clarissa and her husband tried to save for their daughter’s operation, but with their six-dollar a day income, it’s proven to be impossible. Clarissa shared, “We even asked local government officials to help, but all they gave us were empty promises.”

The stress and fear for her daughter began taking a toll on the desperate mother. With tears in her eyes, Clarissa said, “There was a week that I couldn’t sleep. I was so stressed, I started losing my hair."

Then Operation Blessing received word about the family’s need. Clarissa exclaimed, “I am so happy. I feel like light came into our darkness. I was filled with hope.”

Catriona addded, “When I get my surgery, I won’t cry!”

We then paid for Catriona to receive free surgery to remove the cataracts and put in new inner occular lenses. We also paid to repair a small issue with her crossed eye.

“We’d been looking for help and there was none,” Clarissa says, “and then you found us and helped us! God gave us Operation Blessing as an answer to our prayer! Thank you.”
