Feeling Stuck? Trusting God Can Transform Your Life
Suraj Paul, a pastor from India, and his wife, Sweetie, grew up in generous Indian families who always gave.
Suraj began, “We always grew up tithing. I think it's also our parents, the background that we are, we grew up in, they always tithed, and they taught us to tithe.”
In fact, they’ve given 35% of their income away.
“There is a principle with sowing. Every time you sow, you will reap. That is the principle of nature. So, every time you give God just gives you an abundance.”
So, in 2021, when Suraj decided to pursue a ministry degree overseas, their biblical understanding of finances was challenged.
He continued, “Now it was time for us to really look to God and say, God, here we are. There is no other source we can look at but you.”
Despite applying to two schools, Suraj had no peace about moving forward. Then, a ministry leader suggested a school he had never heard of before in the u.s.
“One of the pastors that I was working with said, why don't you consider Regent? And the moment we prayed about Regent, we had a peace that I cannot explain. It's just this peace that led us to make that decision.”
His wife was a registered nurse in India and hoped that she would be able to work while they were in the U.S. Unfortunately, she could not.
His wife, Sweetie added, “I was hoping that I would be able to support my family, so I had tears and, uh, you know, bitterness, bitterness that maybe I didn't do something right.”
Even though they did not have the money to pay for school, they believed that God would make a way. A couple said god spoke to them to cover his first year at Regent.
“They said, we've done things like this before. We've heard the word of the Lord, and he's never failed us.” Suraj added,
It didn’t stop there. Over the next couple of months, multiple people were giving money to Suraj and his family which allowed them to move to the U.S. So Suraj could start school. They were also able to pay their bills on time while they faithfully tithed and gave offerings.
“I knew God will take care of us because we are following his call his heart. So, we took that decision to come. We started praying, you know, okay, thank you Lord. I know you're making a way. We understood that we are not owners of anything. We have, we are stewarding what God has given us.”
In his second year of school, Suraj had been awared the first ever Robertson Scholarship, which would cover the whole school year along with their bills and day to day living expenses.
“That was the beginning of me seeing that the Lord can really answer your prayer your, your tears he sees, and your deepest needs, or your darkest hours only he's there.” Sweetie noted.
As he finishes his education and begins to step into what god has called him to do, Suraj and his wife live each day amazed at what god has done for them and continue to tithe faithfully.
“I just thank God for all that he has done, and especially the last three years has been phenomenal. He has given us more than we deserve. You know, he has given a hundred percent. And how much more does he deserve everything that we have.” Suraj concluded.
