Pray that the Lord would draw the Church together in unity under His Lordship. Ask the Lord to show you how you can build unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray that the Church would put down denominational differences and come together in the love of Jesus Christ to take the Gospel to a lost and dying world.
The Bible tells us the power of unity:
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!
—Ps. 133:1
God is moved when His people come together in harmony under His will. In fact, the Bible says that in unity God commands a blessing. The psalmist goes on to say:
For there the LORD commanded the blessing -- life forever. —Ps. 133:3
We see the power of unity in the prayer of agreement:
Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. —Matt. 18:19
We see the power of unity on the Day of Pentecost:
1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. … 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…
—Acts 2: 1,4a
When the Church comes together in unity there is tremendous power and blessing that comes from the throne of God. It is in the love and unity of the Church that the world will see the goodness of our Heavenly Father.
The world can tell that we are disciples of Jesus Christ as they see the love we have for one another. |
