Day 19

Pray that God would bring repentance to America. Pray God would give righteous judges to our nation. Pray that the future nomination of Supreme Court judges would accomplish His will. Pray for the Supreme Court justices to know the fear of God in their hearts and not the fear of man. Pray that they would have the humility to seek God and His perspective on each decision. Pray that our justices would uphold the Constitution of the United States, and not interpret and legislate away its laws as framed by our forefathers.
This time in history is often referred to as an age of relativism, where circumstances determine right and wrong, and absolutes have gone the way of the hula-hoop. We live in a world filled with sin, where those who dare to call for repentance regarding homosexuality, abortion, greed and anti-Semitism are mocked, reviled and systematically silenced.
In most of secularized Europe, American Christians are viewed as narrow-minded, extreme, backward, and even “the unwashed masses.” In their post-Christian mind-set the Bible represents restraint and an antiquated notion, that there is a God who sits in authority over His creation. It is easy to see that mankind is in rebellion against its creator, and the effects of that rebellion have brought pain, violence and despair.
The Bible shows us the heart of God toward his rebellious creation. Yet, even in spite of our sin, He is ready to receive us in mercy:
Let me no longer see your evil deeds. Give up your wicked ways. Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the orphan. Fight for the right of widows. 'Come now, let us argue this out,' says the Lord. '‘No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you as white as wool. If you will only obey me and let me help you, then you will have plenty to eat. But if you keep turning away and refusing to listen, you will be destroyed by your enemies. I, the Lord, have spoken.' —Isaiah 1: 17:20
Pray that our nation and the world would turn to God and receive His mercy, and that He would not deal with us as our sin deserves. |
|
Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven. Give us our food for today, and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
—Matthew 6: 9-13
