Day 4

Pray for the protection and peace of Israel as they celebrate Yom Kippur. Pray that God would send His angels to protect our countries. And pray that America would be a strong and resolute friend to God’s chosen people.
Jews throughout the world today, celebrate the Day of Atonement, or Yom Kippur. The Bible tells us this is the day when the High Priest entered the Most Holy Place in the Temple and sprinkled the sacrificial blood on the mercy seat. There, the blood stood between God and the sins of His people.
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. —Leviticus 17: 11
God's standards remain the same. In the New Testament we read:
Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. —Hebrews 9: 22
That's why God sent His only beloved Son to be a sacrificial offering. He purposed that Jesus would die on the cross of Calvary and shed His blood in full payment for all sin. He has become our Covering — our Kippur. But, God didn't stop there. He provided an even greater covenant. Not only can your sins be forgiven in Jesus, but God guarantees that when we believe in Him, we are given the righteousness or "right standing" of Jesus Christ. All our sin exchanged for all His goodness.
This is a day of celebration for the whole world. As you pray for the Jewish people today, ask God to open their hearts and spiritual eyes that they might see and believe that Jesus is their Messiah.
