Day 16
|
|
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for the safety and protection of Israel. Pray that all of Israel will be saved and come to know Jesus as their Messiah.
We see in the account of Abraham offering His son Isaac as a sacrifice in obedience to God that the Lord blessed Abraham, promising him that his descendents would be like the sand on the seashore. And he made a covenant with him, declaring that in Abraham’s seed, all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.
Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that I will certainly bless you. … And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed—all because you have obeyed me. —Genesis 22:16,18
When Jesus gave the Church the "Great Commission" in Matthew 28, to go into all the world and make disciples, he was really giving us the "Great Reminder"of His plan for His people from the beginning.
We as Christians have been "grafted into" the original tree of Israel:
The Apostle Paul asks the rhetorical question, "Has God rejected his own people, the nation of Israel?" He quickly answers, "Of course not!"
—Romans 11:1
The day is coming when the Jews will see their Messiah. Paul goes on to explain:
Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ. And so all Israel will be saved. —Romans 11:25-26
Let us pray today that as Israel faces the wrath of the surrounding nations that she would turn to the Lord to save and to protect her. Let us pray for the hastening of the day that all Israel will be saved. |
