Day 8
|
|
Pray that America’s leaders would seek God’s wisdom and direction. Pray for a spirit of humility before God, for all those who are in public office. Pray that God would have mercy on our country, and bless us with leaders who know the Lord and are dedicated to serving Him. Pray that a spirit of righteousness would overtake our nation, and that we would shine as a light to a fallen world.
The Bible tells us that:
Righteousness exalts a nation...
—Proverbs 14:34
When a nation is right and just, God says that nation will be exalted. An exalted nation is one that is raised to a high rank, filled with pride and joy.
Proverbs goes on to say:
...but sin is a disgrace to any people.
—Proverbs 14:34
To be disgraced means to be disapproved of — to have dishonor, disrespect or disfavor.
In America we have enjoyed the grace of God. His overwhelming goodness has been our strength and shield. Let’s give praise and thanks to the God who has done so much for us. May He give us righteousness in our land, so that our country is exalted. May He use us to speak out against sin and to boldly proclaim that we are one nation under God. |
|
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. —II Chronicles 7: 14
