Day 15

Pray that as Christians everywhere face difficulties, our response would be obedience to the Lord. Ask God for courage for the body of Christ, that together we would stand up for righteousness against the flood of evil in the world today. Pray especially for our nation – that God would have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and continue to use us to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Are you facing difficulty today? Cast all of your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for everything that concerns you. Take your concerns to Him in prayer today and leave them at the foot of the cross. Ask the Lord for the grace to turn your struggles over to Him and to receive His peace and joy in return.
Jesus tells the story of two different kinds of builders, one who built his house upon the rock:
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
And one who built upon the sand:
But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall. —Matthew 7:24-27
The issue we face is not whether the storm will come in life, but it is the question of where your house is built. Jesus said,
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. —John 16:33b
The Bible also tells us,
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
—Ps. 34:19
When the rain falls, and the flood comes, and the wind blows against your house, take comfort in God's mighty promises to you, and stand strong, knowing that your house is built upon the Rock -- Jesus Christ. |
|
But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. 19 He rescues them from death and keeps them alive in times of famine. 20 We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield.
—Luke 16:10-12
