Superbook Helped Ayu Discover True Freedom in Christ
In a village in Indonesia, 12-year-old Ayu lives a modest life as the eldest of five siblings. Her father works odd jobs on construction sites, while her mother teaches kindergarten. Though the family has just enough to meet their daily needs, they’ve faced a growing challenge that many families around the world can relate to—cell phone addiction.
Ayu often exceeded the time limits set by her parents, quarreled with her younger siblings over the phone, and caused so much tension that her father broke two phones in frustration. Entertainment had become more appealing to Ayu than learning about God. Her heart was drifting, and her family struggled to guide her back.
At first, Ayu wasn’t interested in CBN Animation’s Superbook. But one night in July, the local church partnered with the village and CBN to host a Superbook Open-Air Screening in the village square. They showed season two’s powerful episode: “Elijah and the Prophets of Baal.”
Through the story of Elijah standing firm against the prophets of Baal, Ayu had a revelation. She realized that today’s “idols” aren’t carved statues—they can be anything that takes the place of God in our hearts. For Ayu, it was her cell phone.
The words of her teacher and mother pierced her heart. She understood that her phone had become an idol. Moved by conviction and love, Ayu opened up to her aunt, a Sunday school teacher, and prayed to surrender her life to the Lord.
From that moment on, everything changed.
Ayu began praying every morning and night with her family. She started singing worship songs and studying God’s Word. Her parents noticed a remarkable transformation. Ayu was no longer addicted to her phone. She used it only for schoolwork and no longer fought with her siblings. Ayu shared:
“Lord Jesus is my Savior. He delivered me from that addiction, and now I no longer fight with my siblings over the phone.”
Ayu’s story is a beautiful example of how Superbook is reaching children in every corner of the world—bringing the Bible to life in ways that speak directly to their hearts and situations. In Indonesia, where tradition and modern challenges often collide, Superbook is helping families rediscover the power of God’s Word.
