Superbook Crosses Bridges of Faith
In the remote community of La Playa, nestled in the region of Macuelizo, Santa Bárbara, Honduras, reaching the local school requires crossing a hammock-style wooden suspension bridge—a symbol of both the physical and spiritual journey that unfolded this June. Despite the challenges, the team from CBN Animation’s Superbook arrived safely, carrying with them a message of hope, love, and eternal life.
Over the course of two days, children from a local school experienced something extraordinary. Through animated Bible stories, interactive Superbook Academy lessons, and heartfelt prayer, they encountered the Gospel in a way that was both engaging and transformative.
Day One: Discovering God’s Deliverance
On the first day, the event began with prayer and the screening of the Superbook episode “Let My People Go.” The story of Moses and the Israelites’ deliverance from Egypt set the stage for powerful lessons on faith and obedience. From Chris and Joy’s dilemma, the children explored Lesson #1, learning the SuperTruth (the main takeaway from the lesson), “God sees, hears, and understands me.” They also memorized the SuperVerse (the memory verse), which was Exodus 3:7.
After a short break in which the children were served milk and cookies, Lesson #2 began with a review and deeper discussion. The children responded to questions and watched the Bible Background video, which taught the biblical and historical context of the Bible story. They learned SuperTruth #2 “God will overcome my weaknesses,” and memorized Exodus 4:10-12 as the second SuperVerse. The session ended with a video of Gizmo’s response and a closing prayer, leaving the children eager for more.
Day Two: A Life-Changing Decision
On the second day, the team returned for the final session. The day began with prayer and the Salvation Poem, followed by a review activity where children answered questions and won small prizes. They watched a recap of the episode, learned SuperTruth #3 “God will redeem me,” and memorized Exodus 6:6, the final SuperVerse.
Then came the most important moment—the Signposts video, which introduced the message of Jesus and his sacrifice on the cross. The Gospel was shared clearly and lovingly.
For the glory of God, 54 children made decisions for Christ through a prayer of salvation.
The team emphasized the significance of this decision, reminding the children that they are now sons and daughters of God, with the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. As one Superbook team member shared:
“God has given us the privilege of guiding these children in their step of faith, offering them the gift of salvation and eternal life through Christ Jesus.”
A Lasting Impact
Each child received a Book of Life (a book of abridged Bible stories that also guides the reader in how to receive salvation) and coloring sheets that corresponded with the episode, “Let My People Go.” These materials sparked enthusiasm and creativity, allowing the children to interact with the stories in a personal way. Many expressed excitement to explore the content at home, ensuring that the lessons would continue long after the event ended.
