Mental Problems More Likely for Kids of Gay Parents
A new study shows children do better when raised by a mom and a dad instead of same-sex parents.
The study was based on 512 American children raised by same-sex couples. In 8 out of 12 psychological measurements, children with same-sex parents had twice as many mental and emotional problems.
Researchers found that 17 percent of children with same-sex parents had serious emotional problems compared to 7 percent of children with a mom and dad.
Developmental problems were greater as well. More than 15 percent from same-sex homes developed ADHD compared to 7 percent with opposite-sex parents.
Similar results were shown for learning disabilities, too. The Witherspoon Institute reports the study rules out bullying as a factor because children from both types of families reported the same amount of bullying.
