Reflection and Awe Lent Series - Sharing Your Hope

“Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” –1 Peter 3:15 (NLT)

This Easter season, we’ve been reminded that Lent is about reflecting on the incredible gift of Jesus—His life, His death, and His resurrection. It’s an invitation to deepen our faith and share our hope in Him with others.

When something great happens, who do you call? Maybe it’s a parent, spouse, friend, or child. We naturally want to share good news with the people we love. Yet even though we have the BEST news—the hope and salvation found in Jesus—we sometimes find it challenging to share it with others.

As believers in Christ, we have hope that others don’t have. That hope is a visible, tangible thing even though it is unseen. Poet Emily Dickinson describes it like this,

“Hope” is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul—

And sings the tune without the words, and never stops—at all.”

When we live out the Gospel, it is attractive to others. It’s not us in our clever talking or pious ways, but it’s the golden thread shining through us. When we give time and space for the Holy Spirit to dwell and abide within our hearts, it is a natural overflow.

Has someone ever said, “I don’t know how you did that”? Often, we dismiss the comment, but what if it’s an invitation to share about Jesus? What if our response was, “It’s not me—it’s Jesus at work in my life.”

Lent is a time to prepare—spiritually and practically—for Easter. One way we can prepare is by crafting an elevator testimony. Much like a business pitch, an elevator testimony is a short, authentic story of what God has done in your life. It equips us to share our hope and always be ready, as Peter encourages in 1 Peter 3:15.

Today, reflect on how God has worked in your life. Think of a specific story of His faithfulness and prepare to share it. It doesn’t have to be lengthy—just honest. Let’s be ready and expectant for the opportunities God places before us to share His hope with others.

Be bold. Be prepared. And be willing to let your life and testimony reflect the glory of our risen Savior.
