Free Surgery Saved His Vision—and Clinic

Doctor Sandeep Kumar enjoyed helping the poor at his small, non-profit clinic in northern India, but when cataracts formed in both of his eyes, the well-being of his patients, and his family, was put at risk.

Sandeep explained, “It became hard to care for my patients, manage my clinic, and commute, so I was forced to close it. My family’s daily survival became a challenge. I couldn’t even pay for my children to go to school. I often had to borrow money from neighbors.”

One day, Sandeep heard about a free eye camp organized by Operation Blessing in his village. A doctor told him that he needed immediate surgery.

Sandeep said, “I was worried about the cost, but when I explained my situation, the team told me the surgery and lenses would be given to me for free.”

After the surgery, Sandeep recalled, “I was overjoyed! When the bandages were removed, I could see clearly again. When I returned home, my whole family was so happy.”

Sandeep is able to drive again and do everything else on his own. He reopened his clinic, helping more people than ever, his children are back in school, and his family has everything they need.

“I feel like I have a new life!” exclaimed Sandeep. “All my struggles and pain have turned into happiness. You showed me compassion and restored my vision for free. I’m deeply grateful to Operation Blessing for my surgery. Thank you all!”
