I’ll Never Give Up on My Daughter!

Before her husband died, Mrs. Wang was a stay-at-home mom.  She took care of her daughter Yuwen, who was sick a lot.

“She caught colds easily,” Mrs. Wang shares.  “The doctor said she was just malnourished, so her immunity was low. He said if I gave Yuwen nutritious food, she’d get better.”

As an illiterate widow, Mrs. Wang had no choice but to collect garbage on the streets so she could get groceries for Yuwen.

“I bought Yuwen eggs and milk,” Mrs. Wang explains.  “I hoped it would build up her resistance.”

Yuwen shares, “The places mom worked were stinky and full of bugs, and her clothes got dirty.  I wanted to get better and help her.  She said playing sports would make me healthy and strong.  So, I started playing basketball and jumping rope.”

Mrs. Wang weeps, “Before long, her lips turned purple, and her face got pale. She gasped and lost all her strength. She stopped eating and was like a deflated ball with no energy.”

Doctors discovered that Yuwen’s real problem was a hole in her heart, that had been growing since she was born.  They said without surgery, she could die.

“It scared me,” admits Mrs. Wang.  “No matter how much trash I picked up, I couldn’t scrape together enough for surgery.  Yuwen always put her hand on her heart and said, ‘Mom, my heart hurts.’”

Yuwen adds, “Most of the time, I wanted to sleep.”  She cries, “I was a burden to my mother. I felt so guilty.”

Once Yuwen had such a high fever that she fainted.

“Her heart was beating like a runaway clock,” Mrs. Wang recalls.  “I carried her as fast as I could to the hospital. I was terrified if I slowed down, she'd die on my back.”

After this, Mrs. Wang worked longer hours, collecting more garbage.

“Sometimes, I hurt so much that I couldn’t work, but I clenched my teeth and told myself I couldn't give up,” Mrs. Wang cries.  “Yuwen was counting on me to get her surgery.”

Yet Mrs. Wang could never save enough.  Then the village clinic told her about Operation Blessing, and you helped Yuwen get heart surgery.

“Now I eat a lot,” exclaims Yuwen.  “I’m growing and gaining weight, and my heartbeat is normal.”

Her mother proudly shares, “Yuwen is the fastest one on the track.  She even helps me with housework.”

Since Yuwen’s surgery, Mrs Wang no longer has to pick up trash.

She explains, “I don’t have to worry.  I saved up, and now I have a small recycling shop.”    Mrs. Wang continues, “You gave me hope and courage to live again.  Operation Blessing volunteers told me that they helped us because of God’s love.   I thank God for this great love.  It saved me and my daughter.”

Yuwen concludes, “Now, I have a father in heaven.  Thank you for your help! You changed my life.”
