You Comforted Little Girl after Disaster
Category 5 Hurricane Otis was a nightmare that ripped through communities in Acapulco, Mexico. Eight-year-old Kenia remembers what happened to her that night. She recalls, “We were wet. I thought the wind was going to blow us away. It pushed and pulled us, and we could not stand up. We had nothing to eat, everything was destroyed."
Kenia’s mom, Pilar, said, “We barely escaped with our lives. The minute we left our house, it collapsed! We went to my neighbor’s house to take refuge. I thank God for allowing us to survive.”
During the crisis, Operation Blessing’s disaster relief team was on hand. They worked with Pastor, Pamela Morales, to provide emergency food, clean water, and milk. “For them, even powered milk is a blessing because they can drink it with some bread,” shares Pastor Morales.
To help kids with the emotional trauma caused by the hurricane, Operation Blessing showed episodes of CBN’s Superbook in nine different communities, including Kenia’s. She watched the story of Daniel and learned how he trusted God during scary situations. She prayed, “Lord, I ask you to take care of me and my family, to take care of all of us.” After watching the Daniel episode, Kenia also prayed, “Lord, I ask You to come into my heart.”
Thanks to CBN partners, two hundred children prayed to become Christians after watching Superbook episodes, just like Kenia. “Thank you! Because you have supported us, we can move forward,” shares Kenia.
