“What Good Is a Child Like That?”

Norie, who is a single parent in the Philippines, doesn’t like taking her daughter out in public.  3-year-old Shameber was born with club feet.

Norie explained, “People said to me, ‘Oh my, you shouldn't have any more children.’ Or, ‘What good is a child like that when she can’t even walk normally?’”

Norie's dream is for Shameber to receive an operation to correct the condition. But she earns only 5 dollars a day. That, she said, makes her dream impossible to achieve.

“I said, ‘Why are your feet turn out like this? Why did it have to happen to us when we're struggling so much?’” said Norie.

Then, thanks to you, Operation Blessing met Shameber and her mom and we paid for her to receive the Ponseti treatment method using casting and a minor surgery to realign her feet. After treatment and some PT, Shameber’s feet are back in the correct position and she’s able to walk and jump and play like other kids.

Norie exclaimed, “I want to shout because my little girl is finally well.  I'm so happy for the changes you made in her life. Thank you.”
