ISIS Defeated in Key Syrian Town of Kobani

The Islamic State fighters have been defeated at the key Syrian town of Kobani, but ISIS could still make important gains on other battlegrounds in Iraq and Syria.

USA Today reports there aren't enough combat troops in some of those areas to take on ISIS fighters.

The Kurds have been the most effective warriors against the Islamic State.

U.S. advisers are trying to help Iraqi troops in their fight against the jihadist army. Iraq is battling the Islamic State fighters in key places like Mosul.

So far, the United States has not given military training to fighters in Syria who are taking on Islamic State fighters.
