- [Announcer] The followingprogram is sponsored by CBN.

- [Wendy] Coming up.

The Corridor of Death.

- Time of death, three o'clock.

- [Wendy] Where smugglers trafficillegals into our country.

- [Don] They're loaded up intothe south side of the county

and dumped out into the brush.

- [Wendy] Can anything stop this invasion?

- They want the public to know.

- [Wendy] And a patientwith fluid in her lungs.

- [Kay] I don't know if I'llever get to talk to 'em again.

- [Wendy] Is saved by a nursewith a song in her heart.

- I can still close my eyesand hear her singing that song.

- [Wendy] On today's "700 Club."

- Welcome to "The 700 Club."

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to say

my heart is literally broken

when I see the tragedyunfolding in Afghanistan

and I hear the cry ofpeople who want to get out

and they're not allowed to do it.

I hear the cry of people whoare being trampled by mobs.

I hear the cry of those whosay, "Please, please help us.

We can't get out of here andour lives are in danger."

And instead of that, we hear,

"Do not try to make it to the airport,"

though the president says the way is open.

That's the current warning

to Americans from the State Department

in light of a new terrorthreat in Afghanistan.

So how are the thousandsof trapped Americans

going to get out?

And why is PresidentBiden still so clueless

about what has been a massive debacle,

with thousands ofAmericans and their helpers

in danger of beingexecuted by the Taliban?

And what about the vicepresident, Kamala Harris.

Well, in Singapore, I mean,

she's in Vietnam right now,

she says, "We'll make a thorough study

of the matter of what caused it."

That's really what those peoplewho are helpless now need

is a thorough study ofhow come it happened.

Here's Dale Hurd.

(gunshots blasting)

- [Dale] An Afghan soldierwas killed and three wounded

in a firefight near the airport today.

This amid credible threatsthat ISIS in Afghanistan

is plotting attacks around the airport.

The US State Departmentis warning Americans

not to try to get to the airport.

US military aircraft fireflares during takeoff,

hoping to confuse possibleheat-seeking missiles

from the Taliban who surround the airport.

Joe Biden insists hemade the right decision

and said the withdrawal would be messy

no matter how it happened.

- I think that history's gonna record

this was the logical, rational, and right decision to make.

- [Dale] But he's taking firefor not getting Americans out

before withdrawing troops.

US citizen David Fox

is stuck in Kabul with his wife and child,

turned away after reaching the airport.

- The airport is very dangerous.

So the Taliban enforceshave these big rubber bands.

I think they're called,like, motor fan belts.

I actually got whacked

with one of these fan beltsfor not moving fast enough.

- [Dale] Desperate Afghansare taking desperate measures.

This infant was handed toAmerican troops over razor wire.

The boy has been reunited withhis father at the airport.

This young girl was begging to be let in.

(shouting in foreign language)

- [Dale] Meanwhile VicePresident Kamala Harris

on her trip to South Asia laughing

as a reporter shouts questions

about the debacle in Afghanistan.

- [Reporter] What'syour response to reports

that Americans-- Hold on, hold on.

Slow down, everybody. (laughs)

- [Dale] Republican leaders

are calling out the administration

for the catastrophe at the airport

and a new and growing threat to the US.

- And this is an embarrassmenton the world stage

that Joe Biden has provided us.

This has set us back decades.

The Taliban now has moreBlackhawk helicopters

than Australia.

- Our mission in Afghanistan

was to deny terrorists a sanctuary,

and the Biden decisionnow to completely withdraw

has handed them an entire country.

- Joe Biden now saysthe August 31st deadline

to withdraw US troopsand evacuate civilians

could be extended, but there's word

the Taliban will not agree to it, Pat.

- Dale, I understandthe president's numbers

have been dropping.

There was this poll that showed

that a majority ofAmerican people don't think

he's even gonna be physicallyable to finish out his term.

Could you tell us whatthe latest numbers are?

- Sure, we have an NBC poll that says

that an overwhelming number of Americans

no longer approve of Biden'shandling of Afghanistan.

60% disapprove, with only25% saying they approve.

And new evidence that the Afghanistan mess

is affecting thepresident's overall ratings.

A CBS poll on the question

of whether the president iscompetent, focused, effective.

A majority now saying he is not.

And when confronted withthese numbers by a reporter,

the president reportedly laughed.

But there are signs that themedia, which, as you know,

has given the administrationa pass pretty much

in the first months of the administration,

the media is waking up now

that there is a serious problem here.

- Thanks, Dale.

Ladies and gentlemen, they own it.

You know, who ever heard ofbringing in people like this?

If the media hadn'tcovered up the problems

with Hunter Biden, if theyhadn't covered up the laptop,

if they hadn't covered up all the things

that were known along the way.

It was just said, it was, quote, Russian disinformation.

But the media is complicit in this debacle

that we're having in our country.

And as I say, it breaks my heart

to think the greatest nation on earth

is led by somebody who is incompetent

and who, along with him,has got a vice president

who has nervous laughter andsaid, "Well, what about it?

Now I'm gonna do a thoroughstudy of what's going on,"

while these people are dying.

It breaks your heart.

But in other news, 17-foot waves

slammed the New England coast this weekend

with 75 mile-an-hour winds

while central New Jersey was drenched

in eight inches of rain and flood waters.

Also, in Tennessee,historic flash flooding

has killed at least 21 people,

including seven-month old twins

who were swept out of their father's arms.

So what now?

Mark Martin reports onthese epic twin storms

and their aftermath.

(logo whooshes)

- [Mark] Henri is nowa tropical depression

lingering over to the Northeast.

The storm bringing windgusts up to 70 miles an hour

as it came ashore on thecoast of Rhode Island Sunday,

causing 100,000 poweroutages as it moved inland.

But its worst damage might be yet to come.

The storm's rain bands arespread out over nine states,

putting 40 million peopleunder a flash flood watch.

This tree almost fell on two homes.

- He told me that it felldown and I said, "No, suh."

I thought he was lying,so when I came out here,

I couldn't believe it

that it didn't hit anything.

- [Mark] Waves up to 19 feetslammed the New England coast.

Farther south, residentsof central New Jersey

saw eight inches of rain and flood waters,

rescue workers carryingscores of people to safety.

Meanwhile, in Tennessee,

an historic flooddisaster over the weekend.

At least 21 people died

after record-setting rainfallcaused flash flooding.

It happened about 75 milessouthwest of Nashville

in the cities of McEwen and Waverly.

- The houses are washed away, knocked off foundations,

just totally gone.

Still people missing.

Lots of cars are smashed up and gone.

- [Mark] Humphreys Countysaw 17 inches of rain

in less than 24 hours.

At least 20 peopleremained missing overnight.

Rescuers believe thedeath toll will climb.

Among the dead, seven-month-old twins.

Their family says the flood waters

swept them out of their father's arms.

- I would expect, giventhe number of fatalities

we have seen so far that we're gonna see

mostly recovery efforts at this point.

- [Mark] The floodingdestroyed entire neighborhoods,

lifting homes off their foundations.

The waters also tookout bridges and roads.

- It started, it was raining all night,

but when I got up at 4:30, itwas starting to really flood

and it just happened so fast.

By 6:30, we were on the roof of our house

and hoping that we were gonna make it.

- Scary scenes there.

And Pat, as to Henri, theNational Weather Service says

the system is predicted to hover Monday

near the Connecticut-New York state line

before it then travelseast across New England

and then pushes outinto the Atlantic Ocean.

The agency says Henri could add

one to three inches of rain today

and could cause majorflooding as it moves out.

Pat.

- Thank you very much.

Ladies and gentlemen, youknow, you look at these things.

We are now the greatest nation on earth,

but we don't have a leader.

We really don't have a leader.

I was reading today inthe Bible where it says

that David was madeking and he guided them

with the skillfulness of his hands.

We don't have a skillful leader.

We don't have one.

We've got a president whois incapable of command.

We have a vice president who is a joke.

And then we have Nancy Pelosi.

And if you look at the chain of command,

if something happens to the president,

and people are saying,"Well, he should resign."

So he resigns, who do you get?

You get Kamala Harris.

And if something happens toher, who do you get after that?

It's Nancy Pelosi.

I mean, that's the chain of command.

And you realize whathave we done as a nation?

We have killed 60 million,at least, unborn babies.

60 million.

We have promoted and made legal

something that the Biblecalls an abomination.

We have actually enshrined it in our laws.

We've done that.

And we have exported thisstuff all over the world.

And on top of that, wehave wasteful spending.

Our debts are growing tomonumental proportions.

There's no way that we'reever gonna pay it off

the way we're going now.

It won't happen.

And what I'm saying is,ladies and gentlemen,

whether you want to hear it or not,

is this nation thatshould be blessed of God

is under the curse of a righteous God,

and we must repent and call upon the Lord.

Now, 2 Chronicles 7:14says this very clearly:

"If my people, who are called by my name,

will humble themselvesand pray and seek my face

and turn from their wicked ways,

I'll hear from heaven, forgive their sin,

and heal their land."

Now, that doesn't justapply to Christians.

It applies to the whole nation.

When Solomon was talking,

the people who were called by His name

are the whole nation of Israel

that's called by thename of the Lord, Israel.

So America needs to turn to God.

Will we ever do it?

It's unlikely.

The Book of Revelationsays it's not gonna happen

and I doubt if we will.

But maybe, maybe there willbe a sense of repentance

that somehow God in His mercywill spare this great land

because this is the greatest nation

on the face of the earth andthis is the hope of freedom.

So what happens if America goes down?

We have this fecklessleadership right now.

It's horrible.

And we have mountingdebts and wild spending

that's going to bankrupt us.

We have all these things going on.

And we cry out to God,"Will you please help us?"

So my message to you today islet's put 2 Chronicles 7:14:

"If my people who are called by my name

will humble themselves andpray and seek my face,"

humble themselves and pray,"then I'll hear from heaven

and forgive their sinand heal their land."

We need healing because thisnation is in serious trouble.

And we ought to all beon our face to pray.

And I do believe in my heart

that God is going to senda great spiritual revival.

I don't know that we're gonna get,

somebody's gonna blow usup with an atomic bomb.

I don't think that's gonna happen.

And I don't think that there's going to be

a destruction of our whole nation.

But I do think there'sgoing to be a turning to God

somewhere along the way wherethere'll be national revival.

But that's what we allshould be praying for.

God, hear our prayer and heal our land.

Well also, right now in the news,

the big question is what did the impact

of the 2020 census haveon the midterm elections?

And which party willreap the biggest benefit?

Capitol Hill CorrespondentAbigail Robertson has more

on the frantic race to redistrict

in states across the country.

(logo whooshes)

- Seven congressional Houseseats are shifting in 2022,

with three GOP strongholds gaining seats

while blue states like NewYork and California lose them.

- We're seeing vast changesin the United States.

- [Abigail] Texas will add two seats,

while Florida, North Carolina, Colorado,

Montana, and Oregon will each gain one.

- Particularly in statesthat have one party control,

you're gonna see some effortsto try to redraw lines

to try to benefit that party.

That tends to favor Republicansmore than Democrats,

but it's gonna happen everywhere.

- [Abigail] ABC News' Rick Klein

told CBN News' "Faith Nation"

that how this plays politically

will depend on the particularrules in each state.

- There's gonna be aseries of massive battles,

all on a very tight timeframe,

in advance of the primaries next year.

- [Abigail] While we expect alot of talk of gerrymandering

around the country, the legalbattles can't go on forever.

- The sooner that the statescan draw their districts,

finalize their maps, thesooner the legal process

can begin to play out, and allof that needs to take place

well in advance of 2022.

- [Abigail] Zack Smith ofThe Heritage Foundation

tells CBN News votereligibility was not included

in census results.

- The districts will beallocated, as I understand it,

based on actual population, notsimply based on citizenship.

- [Abigail] Another big factorfor next year's midterms,

will voters support themassive spending plans

pushed by Democrats?

- Democrats are essentiallybetting on themselves

and their ability to sell this.

Otherwise, they're staringdown the possibility,

if not the likelihood, of losing the House

and perhaps the Senate as well.

So it's as high risk, a moment,

as you can imagine, politically for the Democrats

to be pushing something ofthis magnitude on their own.

- Klein adds that if Democrats are able

to pass their spending plan,

it will lead to additionaltaxes on Americans,

and that's a tough thingto sell politically.

Reporting from Virginia,Abigail Robertson, CBN News.

- You know, the thing,

we've only got 15 more months.

And I was wondering, what do you do

if you've got Nancy Pelosistanding in the role,

potentially the next presidentof the United States?

If something happens, real quickly,

to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,

then she is in line tobe the next president.

And I asked our staff to checkout the rules of the Senate

to see if there could be achange before the election.

Now I believe, without question,

the election, the House isgonna shift to Republican.

The chances are the Senatewill shift to the Republicans.

And there's gonna be a monumental change.

But 15 months is a long time to wait.

So the truth is, accordingto the rules of the House,

if a particular party caucuscomes together and declares

that the Office of Speakerof the House is vacant,

they in turn can cause another election.

And it might be there are enough Democrats

who are sick of the spending problems

and the other problems of this government

that they would get rid of Nancy Pelosi

and put somebody else in.

It doesn't have to be a Republican.

It could be another Democrat.

But whoever it is couldbe a different speaker.

But we're not sure about that,

but that's what could be done

if you want to get alittle into the future.

Well CBN Senior Washington Correspondent

Jennifer Wishon is here to tell us more

about what could be comingin these midterm elections.

Jennifer, are there anyraces we should be watching

as indicators of 2022?

- Absolutely, Pat.

There's a few test cases.

This year, only two stateshave statewide elections,

New Jersey and Virginia.

Now in New Jersey,

it looks like the Democraticincumbent governor there

is gonna be cruising into a second term,

but Virginia is pretty interesting, Pat.

Right now, the Democrat and the Republican

running for the governor's mansion

are in a statistical heat.

And this is interesting because Virginia,

a red state turned purple,

and has really been blue thelast few cycles, reliably blue.

This is a pretty interesting development.

Along with the governor's mansion,

all 100 seats of the StateHouse are up for grabs.

I've spent time with Glenn Youngkin,

who's the Republican running for governor,

I've spent time with someof these House candidates,

and here's what they'rehearing from voters.

They're concerned about crime.

These efforts to defund the police

and undermine police are backfiring.

Pat, the murder rate in Richmond,

the capital city ofVirginia, is up nearly 40%

over last year.

That is a big deal.

Also, voters concerned aboutwhat's happening in schools.

We've reported on Loudoun County,

these school boards who arepushing critical race theory.

Parents have had enough of that.

They've had enough of effortsto oversexualize children.

They're done with that.

Also, in Virginia, there's been a push

to do away with advanced diplomas

and parents are pretty upset about that

after they watched theirstudents work so hard.

So these are the issues

that these candidates are hearing from.

And Pat, this was so important

because the margins that we'retalking about in Virginia,

where this could go the Republicans' way,

we're talking about the suburbs.

These are women who, in 2016,

voted for President Trump.

In 2020, they voted for President Biden.

Have they had enough withthe Democrats' agenda?

We'll see.

But right now, Republicans feel

like the wind is at their back.

All eyes are on Virginia, Pat,

to see what could happenin 2022 across the country.

- Jennifer, if I'm correct, usually,

the polls reflect the Democratmajority by a quite a bit,

and often, when the final vote is counted,

it comes out much closer.

If it's a statistical tie now,

that would really favor theRepublicans, wouldn't it?

- You would think so.

And they really, really feel the momentum.

I mean, I think...

And you know, Virginia hasbeen under one-party rule

and Virginians, and Americans generally,

they like to have some balance.

And so with a Democrat in the White House

who's facing so manyproblems, they just really,

Republicans really feel likethey have a great chance

to, as they see it, hold the line

and have, you know, keep Democrats

from, you know, just havingone-party rule in Virginia.

- But we, we live hereand that's our home base.

I noticed that ourdistrict here was so strong

for Republican and then theman who was the candidate

had some issues and triedto pull a cute stunt

and it backfired on him and he was beat

by a former Navy commanderwho is a Democrat.

But any of these seats are open right now.

It looks like, if we can wait 15 months,

there's going to be a tsunami of change.

We can see the seats in Georgia

come back again to Republican.

A whole lot of things could be happening

where the Senate and House can change.

But 15 months is a long time to wait

and a lot of things canhappen in the meantime.

And while we're watching it,the debacle in Afghanistan,

the suffering of so many people,

the flood of immigrants across the border,

the crime wave, the defunding the police,

all the rest of it.

People want to make a change, but they've got to wait,

and unfortunately, a lotof things bad can happen,

including wrecking our economy.

Terry.

- And on top of that, Pat, COVID is here.

Still ahead, a farewell text to her family

just before she was put on a ventilator.

This COVID patient wasby herself in isolation.

So who's touch did she feeland whose voice did she hear?

Plus, stunning video obtained by CBN News,

armed smugglers caught in the act

along what's known asthe Corridor of Death.

Where is this happening?

In a South Texas town.

You have to see thegrizzly images yourself

to believe this is happening in America.

(dramatic music)

- The Corridor of Death.

That's what US Highway 281in Brooks, Texas is called.

It's the main route for humansmuggling and drug smuggling.

CBN News obtained chilling video

from this area take bythe smugglers themselves.

Our reporter Tara Mergenerbrings us this report

of the untold extent of thecrisis at our southern border.

(men speaking in Spanish)

- [Tara] Armed with an assaultrival and 100 rounds of ammo,

this smuggler races to make the handoff.

Suddenly, several men jump from the back,

making a break for the nextcar, hoping to outrun the law.

(men speaking in Spanish)

- [Tara] CBN News obtainedthis shocking video

recorded by the smugglers themselves.

And this isn't some scene playing out

in a third world country.

It's on the back roads ofa small South Texas town.

(tense music)

(metal clacks)

- Someone's gonna get hurt.

There's a great sense of unease

now that they know thatthey are carrying weapons

and it has been documented now.

Intel hasn't wanted to share it,

but it's gotten so brazen now

that they want the public to know.

- [Tara] This is Brooks County,

some 70 miles north of the Mexico border.

And it's clear evidence that ground zero

of the immigration crisis is much larger

than the border itself.

- US Highway 281,

it heads north, is the main corridor

for human smuggling or drug smuggling.

(siren wails)

- [Tara] It's known asthe Corridor of Death.

(chilling music)

And we see why within minutesof our arrival in Falfurrias.

- We're going to very southend of the county on 281.

- [Tara] Deputy Don Whiteresponding after another body

turns up deep in SouthTexas brush country.

(chilling music)

One of dozens found inthe past few months.

- We can see the prints.

- [Tara] The footprints pointingin the direction of remains

decomposing under the hot Texas sun

not far from the beaten path.

His body moved by animals fromits original resting place,

belongings scattered about the shrubs.

(indistinct)

(zipper zipping)

Deputy White says it lookslike he died a month ago,

likely left behind by his group.

- F-13, time of death, three o'clock even.

- Either he was dropped and they went on

or he'd become incoherentfrom environmental stresses

and he started wandering.

- [Tara] An hour south,

hundreds of thousandsof women and children

continue to surrender toagents after being dropped off

at the river's edge by so-called coyotes

hired to smuggle them into the US.

For those trying to avoid agents, however.

(man shouting)

- Due to past criminal history

or past border interceptionsand that sort of thing.

- [Tara] The secondhurdle may be even harder,

getting around theBorder Patrol checkpoint

in Brooks County along amajor human smuggling route.

(truck whooshes)

On the journey, moved fromstash house to stash house

in the Rio Grande Valley

until the cartel gives the all clear.

- They're loaded up intopickups, vans, whatever,

and brought to thesouth side of the county

and dumped out into the brush,

and then they're expected to walk

up to three days through the brush.

(soft tense music)

- The miles-long trek tomeet the next smuggler

waiting to usher them deeperinto the US is punishing.

This is sandy loam, similarto what's on a beach.

It's very heavy to walk on

and migrants on it hourafter hour become exhausted.

(soft tense music)

Scorching summers, freezing winter nights,

and brutal winds all taking their toll.

Bodies and skeletal remainsoften revealing signs

of painful, even violent deaths.

- You know, the cartel has also been known

to kill people that didn't pay up.

- [Tara] With the human flood

crashing the southern border this year,

drug cartels are raking in billions

for migrants desperate to reach the US.

(Spanish music)

Some with bad intent.

(indistinct radio chatter)

- So many people are coming across

that gives the carteleven more opportunities

to transfer people likeMS-13 and the 18th Street,

pedophiles, pedophiles loveto come back to America.

- [Tara] Law enforcement scrambles

to stay vigilant along highways.

Resources in these parts are spread thin.

Many border agents oncepatrolling this county gone,

assisting with the massiveinflux on the border,

leaving the cartel to take full advantage.

(cumbia music)

- It'll be a while

before someone can goout there and respond

to the notice that someoneis going through the brush.

That brush is wide open,

944 square miles of nothingbut probably ranch land.

- The last few monthsit's really picked up

and there are profound property damage

with smugglers that are beingpursued by law enforcement.

And it's not only that.

It's armed smugglers goingthrough private property,

rural roads, at high speedsto drop off their load.

- [Tara] Loads that lawenforcement officers say

defy dangerous odds in the wilderness

(soft dramatic music)

and are fanning out in greaternumbers across America.

In Brooks County, Tara Mergener, CBN News.

- One more disaster thatcan be laid at the feet

of the president of the United States

who's just checked out.

This is a horrible situation.

The cost of human lives is awful.

But you saw the pictures, ladies and gentlemen.

This isn't something we made up.

This isn't, quote, fake news.

This is the real stuff,

taken from the actualsmugglers themselves.

We saw their video of what they're doing.

And they're bringinggang members, pedophiles,

not to mention people whoare infected with COVID

and they're being busedall over the United States.

That's courtesy of thecurrent administration.

We must do something.

We've got to pray to Godto give us honest, worthy,

intelligent leaders.

And we don't have them now.

But whose fault is it?

Once again, I lay the fault at the feet

of the American media, who gave Joe Biden a pass

because they hated Donald Trump so badly

that they wanted somebody in his place.

And they didn't vet this man.

They didn't take evidencethat was being given to them.

They covered it all up.

And like the Bible says, they have sown the wind.

Now we're reaping the whirlwind, and they are responsible,

the big news-gatheringorganizations all over this nation,

not to mention some ofthe big corporations

who've written checks to help them.

This is what's been happening,

and only the Lord can set us free.

Terry.

- Well, up next, in a sticky situation,

what's this Padres' go-to pitch?

And what words does healways repeat on the mound

right before the inning starts?

MLB pitcher Craig Stammenwill tell you himself

right after this.

(dramatic music)

Anxiety and fear of failure.

They go hand-in-glove withprofessional baseball.

So what's the antidote forMLB pitcher Craig Stammen

when he takes the mound?

Craig shared his secret and much more

with sports reporter Tom Buehring.

Take a look.

(exciting music)

- [Tom] At center stage of the infield,

Craig Stammen finds a rareperspective with a lasting pitch.

- To be able to challengeyourself out on the mound

and be able to take on thebest players in the world,

you're out to prove yourself, out to prove that you belong.

Whatever happens on the baseball field,

it's not gonna matter with knowing that

Jesus says yes to you in heaven.

- The San Diego Padres middle-reliever

and spot-starter shouldersa heavy load of innings

as the team's durable, effective,and savvy 12-year-veteran.

What is the one pitch

that's served you well over the years?

- It's my sinker, my two-seam fastball.

When I get in a stickysituation, 9 times out of 10,

that's what I'm going to.

Not necessarily always for the strikeout,

but I know it's an effectivepitch that I can locate.

It gets a lot of outs for me.

I've been blessed to be ableto have a lot of movement.

It just comes and tails

and drops five, six inchesright at the last end

and they usually beat it intothe ground for a ground ball.

- [Tom] Is it difficult foryou to surrender the ball

and release its results?

(Craig laughs)

- I think that's the only way to pitch,

or to be sane while pitching.

Really, the only thingthat I can control is

got the grip, got our mindseton throwing that pitch

exactly where we want to atthat time, and we let it go.

You gotta throw every one

like it's the last outof the World Series.

- A performance-based business.

Where does your affirmation come from?

- It's a good question.

You know, I like havingsuccess on the mound.

I'm working hard to have that success.

But I know the results aren't determining

whether or not I'm a beloved child of God.

And so I think remembering thaton a constant, daily basis,

being strong in the Word andunderstanding the real truth

gives you a whole lot more peace and joy

when you're out therebeing able to do something

that God has blessed you to do.

- You come alongside young pitchers

to help them mute that voice of doubt.

What do you do to reaffirmthat voice of belief?

- Yeah.

And it's probably the hardestthing to do with baseball.

We all think it's physicalout there on the mound,

but most of it's in our head, and to get rid of that doubt

is basically how you find success,

and knowing that youcan trust the abilities

that you work on on a daily basis.

It's fun to just go out there and use 'em

and see if they're good enough.

- What does a smalltown Ohio guy like best

about playing in San Diego?

(Craig laughs)

- It's different, you know?

And both worlds are the best.

I can go back to Ohio andlive in that small town

and be in the middle of nowhere,

have nothing but a cornfield in front of me,

or I can come back to San Diego,

get to play in the sunshine, the beach,

anything at your disposal, play golf whenever you want,

and be at this beautiful park, Petco Park.

You realize the vastblessings this world provides.

- [Tom] The ultimate professional.

In a clubhouse setting,

- Yeah.- to be a leader there,

what is it?

- I think authenticityis the number one trait

that I'd like to have within the clubhouse

and my friends and family.

I hope that who I was when I was 21,

personality-wise, is the same guy I am

after so many seasonsin the major leagues,

and I am who I am.

And I want to be authentic,

and that attribute hasdefinitely helped me be a leader

amongst my peers and helpthem feel more comfortable

when they're around me.

- [Tom] What is it aboutJesus Christ, Craig,

that has impacted your life?

- It's turned into

my whole entire life.

When you're younger, you think of it

as an aspect of your life.

And I think when I trulybecame a follower of Christ

is when it became a partof every part of my life.

Anything that I did, do, will do, ever do,

centered around Jesus andHis unconditional love.

The importance of howI grew up in the faith,

Jesus being at the top of everything,

a part of everything that wedid, how my parents raised me,

has been the greatestgift I've ever been given.

- [Tom] 2 Timothy 1:7.

- "God did not give us a spirit of fear."

That verse I say to myself

right before the inningstarts on the mound.

There's a lot of anxiety, there's a lot of fear of failure

that goes along with baseball.

You know, Timothy, hewas known of being timid

and he had to be stronger in his faith

to be able to proclaim the good news

to the new Christians at that time.

And so my little piece of thatis out there on the mound.

I've got to have that faithand I know who my Savior is.

- Well, the Padres are electric this year.

They're having a great season

and remain World Series hopefuls.

Why guys like that make a team.

Well, still ahead, it'sinformative, it's encouraging,

it's always unpredictable.

We've got your questionsand Pat's honest answers.

Michael says, "I am a deacon in my church.

If I commit the sin of looking at porn,

will I be held to a greaterdegree of accountability

than someone else in churchwho commits the same sin?"

Stay tuned.

Pat'll have an answerto that and much more.

And then up next, a COVID patient crashes

every time she's taken off a ventilator.

So how does she survive?

And why is she sent homeearly from the hospital?

- Well, Kay Wooten wasput on a ventilator twice.

Kay almost crashed.

She had double pneumoniabrought on by COVID-19

and was completelyisolated from any visitors.

So when Kay was all alone, whose touch did she feel

and whose voice did she hear?

You're about to find out.

(inspirational music)

(gentle music)

- It just was so hardto wrap my mind around.

How did this virus that'staken so many lives

across the world reach my momin this tiny country town?

- [Narrator] March 31, 2020,

Jessica O'Mealy's mom, Kay Wooten,

was admitted to St. FrancisHospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma

with a fever and an incessant cough.

She was diagnosed with double pneumonia,

brought on by COVID-19.

- I was quite shocked.

I was so weak at that point.

It hit me so hard, I guess.

- [Narrator] Kay was put on oxygen

and prescribed treatments tolessen the fluid in her lungs.

As word spread, her familyand friends rallied in prayer.

- I would see on my phone,

people just immediatelystarted responding,

"Praying right now for your mom,"

and that was very comforting to me

in a time where you justdon't even know what to do.

- [Narrator] One of Kay'snurses was Karen Njafuh.

- I just remember her comingin and just being scared.

So, just from her admission,it was just encouraging her,

"It's gonna be okay."

- [Narrator] From day one,Karen and the other nurses

kept Kay's familyupdated on her condition.

They even arranged phone calls.

- My conversation with her

would be maybe three or four minutes

and then we'd have to hang up

because she was really struggling.

- [Narrator] On day three,Kay's condition became critical

and doctors decided toput her on a ventilator.

At 4:30 in the morning,Kay texted her family.

- "I love you. Tell mygrandkids I love 'em.

Tell my daddy I love him."

Because I didn't know.

My first reaction was, "I don't know

if I'll ever get to talk to 'em again."

- That could be the lastline of communication

I ever had from her, andI just cried and prayed.

You know, your mind always wants to go

to the worst-case scenario.

And the thought I hadthe most that was so hard

was that she would diealone in a hospital bed.

- [Narrator] Over the next few days,

three different friendssent Jessica the same verse,

Exodus 14:14.

- And it says, "TheLord will fight for you.

You need only to be still."

He was fighting for her,

He was going to take care ofher, and this was our role,

to just be still in this time and pray.

- [Narrator] And they weren'tthe only ones praying.

- There was a lot of thenurses that'd come in

when I was conscious and off the sedation

that said, "I'm prayingfor you," you know, and I,

you just can't get any better than that.

- [Narrator] Likewise,Kay's family and friends

were also praying for eachof the nurses by name.

- The difficult circumstancesthat they're working in.

They're putting themselvesat risk every single day.

- I mean, they said us by name, and so

that's more than what we could ask for

and have people praying for us.

- [Narrator] After several days,

doctors tried to takeher off the ventilator,

but she crashed immediately.

When they decided to tryagain a few days later,

Kay felt alone and scared.

But nurse Karen was thereand offered to pray.

- We prayed about it and Iremember her husband telling me

she liked music, and so I asked her,

"Would you like me to sing to you?"

and she nodded her head yes.

- When she sang "Amazing Grace" to me,

it brought me so much peace.

- I just was being obedient, honestly.

I felt it in my heart to encourage her.

She needed it.

- I can still close my eyesand hear her singing that song.

- [Narrator] This time,Kay was off the ventilator

for 17 hours, giving them a sign of hope.

But she crashed again.

Late that night, Jessica and her husband

received the devastating news.

- And we were in ourliving room in the dark

for probably three hours.

And we just prayed backand forth, "Lord, take it.

I can't let myself godown this path of fear.

I've got to give it to you andturn that fear into trust."

- [Narrator] Even thoughher days were filled

with uncertainty, Kaywas sure of one thing.

- There were several timesI felt a touch on my arm

over here, and I would lookover and no one was there

and I could just...

I think it was audible,

that God was saying, "I'm here with ya."

And I would just thankHim for being there,

just thank Him for being there with me.

- [Narrator] Finally, on April 17th,

after 13 days on a ventilator,

Kay was able to breathe on her own.

- When I got off that thirdtime, I didn't have worries.

I wasn't scared, I wasn't afraid.

And I know it was the prayersthat were being lifted up.

- [Narrator] 21 days aftergoing into the hospital,

Kay was released.

In fact, it was a dayearlier than planned,

so she and her husbandsurprised their daughter

when they pulled up into the driveway.

- I don't think I've everbeen so surprised in my life,

and just to see her sitting in the car

and she kept, you know, waving and hearts to us,

and that was one of themost incredible moments

in my whole life.

- [Narrator] Looking back,

Jessica says God notonly fought their battle

against COVID-19, but alsotheir fight against fear.

- Even though it was scary,

even though we were struggling through it,

we really were experiencing God's peace.

- [Narrator] As for nurseKaren, who's on the front lines

of the COVID-19 pandemic, shesays it's her faith in God

that gives her courage and perseverance.

- She is an angel,

one of God's chosen people for that field.

- He's got me.

You know that song, "He's gotthe whole world in His hands,"

He truly does, and He justcontinues to show that.

I trust Him.

- The Lord was there.

The Lord was with you.

Isn't that great?

Now, look, I know some ofyou in this audience say,

"How about me?

You know, I'm suffering.

I've got loved ones who are suffering."

God knows your need andHe wants to bless you.

Now here are some reports we have had

that I think will be encouraging.

A guy named Larry has sent us an email.

He said, "On June 1st, Terry prayed

that someone in the audience having tests

with a pancreas problemand potential cancer.

Terry was emphatic thetests would be negative,

no pancreas problems.

The labs confirmed that Ididn't have any problems

and we're thanking God for that."

- [Terry] I guess so. Hallelujah.

Well, this is Alonzo, Pat,

who lives in Fontana, California,

suffered from chronic acid reflux.

Nothing worked to give lasting relief.

He was watching this program one day

and he heard you, Pat, say "Somebody,

you've got this terrible acid reflux."

As Pat declared God's healing,Alonzo was completely healed.

Hallelujah.

- Now folks, God is norespecter of persons.

We've said it over andover and over again.

He loves you, He knows who youare, and knows your problem.

Now Terry and I aregoing to join together.

We want to believe where it says,

"If two of you will agree onearth as touching anything,

it will be done for themby my Father in heaven."

Now we're going to pray for you

and we're gonna believe God.

Father, in Jesus' name,

we ask, Lord, for those in this audience

who are crying out to you.

Lord, you have heard their prayers.

You know their suffering.

And Lord, we bring them before you

because you are Almighty God

and with you, all things are possible.

Somebody has gotemphysema, the name's Nina,

and that emphysema, putyour hand on your chest.

In the name of Jesus, cough (coughs)

and your lungs are gonnabe completely healed.

Terry.

- Yeah, someone else, youhave chronic drainage,

like sinus drainage.

It's with you constantly.

Your nose is running.

Your throat is captured by it.

God is drawing that up,

healing you from that condition right now.

- Thank you, Jesus.

Mike and Elaine, you've got a problem.

You're looking for housing

and God has heard your need

and He's gonna supply youthe house that you need.

It's going to be amiracle, in Jesus' name.

Terry.

- Yeah, someone else, youhave respiratory problems.

You've had them for yearsand it's made you so fearful

of this COVID thing that's going around.

God's healing you of thatrespiratory condition right now.

The fear is gone, but so isthe respiratory condition.

Just begin to breathe deeplyand freely, in Jesus' name.

- There's something calleddyspepsia and you've got it

and the Lord has justtouched you right now.

And just receive ananswer, in Jesus' name.

Now, Lord, we hold before you

the cry of people in Afghanistan,

the cry of people at the southern border,

the cry of people in Americawho are suffering from crime

and all the problems that are here.

And we hold before you this great nation

and we say, God Almighty, send revival

and make us worthy ofreceiving your blessings.

If you have to do a cleansing, then do the cleansing, Lord.

But God, we ask for a miracle.

Thank you, Father.

And by the way, there'ssomebody, as we're praying,

you've got a right kneethat's suffering, is swollen.

And if you just touch it right now.

And Terry, do you haveanything else before we stop?

- No, I don't think so.- Thank you, Father.

Lord, just we praise you forthe answers, in Jesus' name.

Now we ask you, give us a call.

We love to hear from you.

1-800-700-7000 if you want further prayer.

Even though this programisn't on the air in your area,

it's off the air, we'restill here on the telephones.

So 1-800-700-7000.

We want to hear the answers.

We want to have your prayer requests.

You can call for prayer

or have somebody just rejoice with you

or sob with you, whichever makes you happy.

All right.

- Pat, it's time for some real questions

- Let's go for 'em, okay.- and some honest answers

from all of you and for you.

(dramatic music)- All right.

- [Terry] Well, the firstone comes from Michael,

who says, "Dr. Robertson, the Q&A portion

of 'The 700 Club' is one of my favorites.

I watched the show every day.

The question I have is: WillGod hold those He has called

into higher positions ofservice, such as pastors

and deacons, to a higherlevel of accountability?

For example, I'm a deacon in my church.

If I commit the sin of looking at porn,

will I be held to a greaterdegree of accountability

than someone else from the church

who might commit the same sin?

Are the eternal consequencesgoing to be more severe for me

because He called me to be a deacon?"

- Unto whom much is given, much will be required.

The answer is yes.

Those of us who are inpositions of responsibility

have a greater burdenthan those that don't.

And I consider the responsibility I have

to be able to teach the Word,

God's gonna hold meaccountable for what I say

and what I think and what I do.

And I'm his bond slave.

And if you are in aposition of responsibility,

so if you want a pass onwatching for porn, come off it.

I mean, that's a sin, you know.

The idea of looking at a womanwith adultery in your heart,

that stuff is evil.

And it's produced by the mob.

Most of the porn comes out of people

that are involved in crime

and they're setting it up to seduce you.

So why would you want to be seduced?

I don't care if you'rea deacon or a member.

It doesn't matter.

Turn it off and say, "No way, no how.

I'm not gonna watch it anymore."

All right.

- This is Diane, who says,

"What is your biblical opinion

of an individual makingunspoken prayer requests?"

- Well, it happens all the time.

I mean, we don't have toverbalize our prayers.

You know, I'm quiet andI'm praying to the Lord.

The Lord knows about that.

So you can...

"Deep calls unto deep."

God knows what's in your heart.

You don't have to verbalize them.

But sometimes when you speak to something,

it makes a difference.

All right.

- This is Donna, who says, "Pat,I've listened to your book,

'I Have Walked with the Living God.'

You talked about running for president

and said that God knewbetter than to tell you

if you would win or not.

I really wonder what you meant.

Can you explain?"- Well, all right.

Maybe that's, and all of it,

but He knew I'm out for winning.

I wouldn't even considered it

if I didn't think I wasgonna have a chance to win.

So maybe, maybe if the Lord wouldn't have,

I couldn't have gotten into that race

unless I thought I was gonna win it.

So, I think God knew enoughto not to discourage me,

but maybe I overstated it.

All right.

- Okay, this is Rochelle, who says,

"I'm an evangelical Christian.

One of my daughters calledme a brainwashed person

that is in a cult.

What is a cult?"

- Well, a cult is a group ofpeople that follow one leader

and they're together inone doctrinal statement

and to the exclusion of others.

I guess, you know, Christianity,if you wanna use that term,

is in a sense a cult, butwe're a big one (chuckles)

with about 20 million or so adherents.

It's more than that.

However many it is.

But no, don't let somebody bad-mouth you.

You're following the Lord Jesus.

And the one thing about a cult

that you'll find is theydon't believe in the Lord.

They believe in the one leader, whoever that one person is.

The one person oughta be Jesus Himself.

That's how you know the difference.

Well, Today's PowerMinute is from Psalm 103:

"As far as the east is from the west,

so far he's removed ourtransgressions from us."

Thanks for being with us.

See you tomorrow. God bless you.
