- Time for some questions.
Are you ready?- Go ahead.
- This is Andy who says, "Pat,I'm 15 and very interested
"in the stock market and investing.
"How can I possibly get started?
"Any advice for a young guy like me?"
- All right, first of all, Ithink what you need to do is
to learn a little somethingabout what it's all about.
What is a PE, what is a price earnings?
What is a price to sales?
What are you, are thebasis on which you invest?
You look at all thosethings that are there,
there are a lot of littleteeny booklets to know,
that you can read.
Then there are people like Fidelity that
have a wonderful program.
They have some terrific stock
and you can get some oftheir stock plans, you know.
They have 'em puttogether in various forms.
But you could also, makesure you get the literature
and open an account.
Open your own account in a brokerage firm
where you can buy and sell securities.
And then don't, youknow, get your foot wet.
You can, Schwab isselling fractional shares.
I'm not too much a favor of that.
But if you can find some fairlylow-cost stocks to start,
I mean, you can get a few of 'em.
But you might look at howmany are yielding dividends.
There's a letter calledhigh yield investing
that'll tell you about thosethat are paying good dividends
that you know, oh what are them, this,
you know, stability of these stocks.
I mean, you have to do a little reading.
But definitely, I mean, get in there
and you'll learn what it's about.
And remember that, you know, the stock market fluctuates
so you have to learn, you know,
you know when to hold 'em andyou know when to fold 'em.
There's nothing short with experience,
but it's fun to do andI've done a lot of it, so.
Okay?- Good advice.
This is Phyllis who says,"I've seen many believers
"'slain in the spirit.'A speaker or pastor
"lays hands on the person and prays,
"and the individual falls to the ground
"as if unconscious.
"I cannot find this in scripture anywhere.
"Is this a work of God?"
- Well the answer'syes, but the Bible says
when they came to get Jesus to take Him
and they said, "We've come to take you,"
and they said, "Who is Jesus?"
And He stood up and said, "I am He,"
and the Bible said theyfell to the ground.
Daniel says, you know, when an angel appeared
before him, he had nostrength and he swooned.
So in the presence ofeternity and in the presence
of an angel, there are a numberof references in the Bible
where the power of God is so strong,
the people can't stand up.
But that's a couple of 'em, all right?
- This is Michelle who says,"Hi Pat, Habakkuk 2:2 talks
"about writing the vision andmaking it plain on tablets
"that he who reads it may run.
"I know that God also sendsdreams for various reasons.
"What is the differencebetween a dream and a vision?"
- Well, a dream, you're asleep
and a vision when we, it'skind of like a waking sight.
I don't, is that the end of that question?
- That's the end of it.
She just wants to know the difference
between a dream and a vision.
- Yeah, okay.
Well, but you asked forHabakkuk, so the vision is
you know, write the visionso he that reads it may run,
that's for Habakkuk to write his prophesy
and I don't know that, what God is speaking
to you, necessarily itfits into that category.
All right?
- This is Betty who says,"Pat, I read the Bible
"and I'm wondering why people lived to be
"as old as they did.
"Why has that changed, andpeople don't live as long now?"
- If you read that after the flood,
God said the time ofman's life will be 120.
Well it wasn't like I'm gonnaraise it from 80 to 120.
You're looking at people who were living
5, 6, 7, 8, 900 years.
And after the flood, Idon't know whether it was
a lot of moisture in the airwhere the mold was present,
or whether it had something to do,
but the, you know, Noah was like 600,
5, 600 years old when he built the ark.
So I think what we're looking at is
an increase, I mean, not anincrease but it's a decrease
from 600, 700, 800, or 900 years.
People now live 120, that'sthe max, and you know,
the Psalms talk about, youknow, four score and ten.
All right.
- This is Alan who says, "I was diagnosed
"with prostate cancer.
"I've chosen not to take surgery
"or the nuclear implantsoffered by my doctor.
"I have faith and havechosen to do nothing
"but place it in the will of God.
"Your thoughts on my decision?"
- Look, you're looking atsomebody who had prostate cancer
and my thought was cut it outas fast as you can, you know?
I mean, you lose something, but my brother died.
The thing spread.
He did some of thatimplant and it didn't work
and it spread up into his lungs
and it got to his brain, and it killed him.
So don't play around with these things.
If you've got breastcancer or prostate cancer,
deal with it right away.
I mean, I think you know,if you lose something,
but there's something calledthe neurovascular bundle
and if you can possiblykeep that, you wanna do it,
otherwise you've got a heap of problems
along the way that Iwon't go into, right now.
But in any event, don't play with it.
I mean, you say well, I'm gonna trust God
and then the next thing you know, you die.
