When Anita Hightower was pregnant with her third child, she didn’t make a lot of money.

Antia remembers, “I was working part-time, we barely made ends meet and the kids were wearing hand-me-down clothes.” At the bank where she worked, a co-worker invited her to church and told her about tithing. Anita recalls, “I'm thinking, "Uh, I can't tithe."

"I don't have enough money to tithe. Looking back now, it was the Holy Spirit convicting me, saying, "Trust me."  Anita started tithing, with an already stretched budget, she trusted God would provide.  “I just started doing it, even though I didn't feel like I could do it."

And the bills were still being paid. It was like I didn't even tithe,” said Anita.
She stayed consistent with her tithes, and over the next year she was amazed at what happened. “I got a better job from working at the bank to now I'm working for the State of California. I got seven promotions within a nine-year period. I just was amazed how good God is,” says Anita.  During her time with the State, her income increased by more than 500%! Anita attributes all to God’s faithfulness.

Anita smiles and says, “When you're obedient to God, I think His way of showing up for you is showing that you're not going to lose out. Because I think when we give, we're thinking, "I'm going to lose out. I'm not going to be able to do this or that or go here or there." But you're not going to lose anything. If anything, you're going to gain something.”  In addition to tithing, God prompted her to do more. She says, 
“There's been several times when I went above and beyond my tithing, and when I did that, I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit, but at the same time, I felt like, "Ugh, I can't really afford that. I mean, I was still able to do what I needed to do or wanted to do, but at the time, you feel like, "Oh gosh, this is a big sacrifice.”

Anita continued trusting God with her finances and started supporting non-profits and ministries including CBN. “I love seeing 700 Club. I love all the different stories that they have, all the different opportunities that I have to give, because now I'm a partner. I love to see the surgeries on the cleft palate, the before and after. It's just amazing how different the kids look after that's done. I love the Operation Blessing, how they help people that have gone through all these different things, fires or floods or hurricanes. They're there to help them,” she says. Today, Anita enjoys being semi-retired and the joy of giving.

“I am so glad that the person that spoke to me at my job, which was younger than me, a single girl living at home, trying to tell me about tithing, well, thank God she did tell me about tithing, says Anita. “That's the main thing is to be obedient so you can see that God can make a way out of no way.”

Terrain damage from Hurricane Helene triggered a devastating landslide in the North Carolina mountains, burying Charles and Maria’s home under a wall of mud and debris.     

“We got up to the side of the road up there that's just now clear and it was eight-foot, rock mud, 40- foot long trees, and we just looked at it and said, “Okay we're done,” the Marcoms explained.  “We're just - no way we could attempt to even start.” 

Facing an overwhelming task, the Marcoms needed help to save their home of 20 years.
“I thought it was too big. I thought should we just walk away. I didn’t know; I just, it was too big. That’s all I could say.”    

That’s when Operation Blessing’s disaster relief team stepped in.  And when volunteers arrived, they brought not just equipment and manpower, but hope.    

“We had nowhere to go.  Nowhere. And there you are.  I can't believe you brought 16 men with you.  I can't believe if you would have seen this before.  Oh you did.  You did see it before.  I just can't believe and you guys did this. I can't believe.”   

As teams worked tirelessly to clear the mud and debris, the Marcom’s received more than physical help. 

“The Bible says you will know them by their fruit.  Yeah, your fruit.  Look at the fruit that you guys are putting out. I mean, the total strangers.  I want to be you guys.  You're showing the love of Jesus more than anybody could show it,” they said gratefully.

“You're such a blessing.  Everybody that's lifted hands it's been such a blessing to us and I mean if we could ever help we'll be there helping as well.  Oh my gosh I can't wait to be on the other side of this.  I can't wait – overwhelming.  We had nowhere to go - nowhere – and there you are!”

As a single mom raising three kids, Marta Pena's finances were stretched to the breaking point.

Marta remembers: "Most of the time, it was living paycheck to paycheck with the stress of wondering, am I doing things right? Are we going to have enough? Because there really wasn't any savings."

Marta prayed for something more. One Sunday, she walked into a church that would change her life forever.

"They were just singing and praising God, and the people looked so happy. I thought this was amazing. And I had been asking the Lord, what's in this Bible?"

Marta gave her life to Christ and began learning about God's promises. But when she heard about tithing, she hesitated.

"I said, surely God knows that I cannot afford to give Him 10%. But when I began to study in Malachi, I read that we could test God on that, and there are promises attached to it. It says He'll open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that we won't even be able to take it all in. So, that next Sunday, I wrote out a check for $106 and 41 cents."

She gave it with fear, but the very next week, Marta got an unexpected raise that increased her monthly salary by the exact same amount.

"Oh my goodness, you know, God, your word is true! Once I started tithing, I didn't stop and having gotten that raise and getting the promotions, it just made life much easier. Not just the giving, but also in learning more about the Lord, it just gave me peace in my thinking, peace in my life. And it just helped me raise my children. It helped me maintain my sanity, knowing that God is faithful."

Marta spent her career in the logistics industry as a licensed customs broker at the 3rd largest port in the United States.
"I did receive promotions going from being an entry writer to a supervisor. I've moved up to management positions. I've been a branch manager, I've been a vice president of different companies. So, God has just continued to bless."

Then, at sixty-two, she was recruited by the 3rd largest logistics company in the world.

"I had an increase in responsibility, being a promotion, and once again, it showed me the Lord is so faithful."

When Marta retired at seventy-three her salary represented a 700% increase over where she began in her career.

"I've said it to my grandson: you have to make sure that you tithe. If you don't do anything else, you've got to tithe. Because if you tithe, then things will go well for you. I've seen it in my life. I know that it's true."

Marta's trust in God inspires her to also give to ministries like CBN, where she sees the impact of generosity in action.

"I give to CBN because CBN does bring that hope to other people. They go to the places that are traumatized and have had devastation. And I want to be a part of it. So, CBN, I feel, is like a partner in my life."

Today, whether Marta is harvesting from her garden or creating beauty on a canvas, her life reflects the joy and peace of trusting God.

"Trust the Lord with your finances. Be obedient. Give that 10%. I did it with fear and trepidation. And God just showed me that He was faithful, and He was true to His word."

In the serene northern part of Poland, a remarkable event unfolded from August 5 to 10. The "For 100%" Christian camp brought together over 400 participants, including about 80 children, and more than 40 leaders from various churches, Christian organizations, and ministries. This camp was not only a time of spiritual growth and fellowship but also a significant milestone for the Superbook ministry.

Each afternoon, the Superbook team had the privilege of leading Superbook activities for 30-40 children aged 6-12. These sessions included watching episodes from Superbook's fifth season, singing and dancing to the Salvation Poem, and participating in Bible quizzes based on the episodes. The children's excitement was palpable, especially when they watched premiere episodes from the new season. 

The children's enthusiasm and engagement were truly inspiring. During the quizzes, the team was pleasantly surprised by how well they remembered details from the episodes. They rewarded the campers’ participation with prizes like pencils, notebooks, toys, and children's Bibles. The children also enjoyed a spirited competition in singing the Superbook Salvation Poem. Every child left with coloring pages featuring Gizmo and crafts to make their own Gizmo at home. They also received Book of Hope books, which further enriched their spiritual journey.

One of the highlights of the camp was the baptism of several children. To celebrate this special moment, the campers watched the episode “Baptized,” which resonated deeply with the newly baptized kids. The team dedicated this episode to them and encouraged other children to consider making decisions for Jesus and being baptized as well. 

On the last day of the camp, the children watched a Gospel presentation, and the team had the privilege of leading them in a prayer of salvation. It was a powerful moment as they invited Jesus into their hearts to be their Lord and Savior. The team also encouraged them to read the Bible daily to learn more about Jesus and other stories in the Bible.

Beyond the activities with the children, the Superbook team had the chance to talk to many people about the Superbook ministry. They shared the inspiring story of how Superbook came to Poland and began broadcasting on national TV. They also spoke about Superbook’s humanitarian efforts and ministry among Ukrainian refugees in Poland. It was encouraging to see the interest and support from representatives of different churches and organizations working with children. They were eager to learn more and expressed their gratitude for the Superbook ministry.

Throughout the camp, the team heard numerous testimonies from parents about how Superbook has positively influenced their children’s lives. The ministry is growing in Poland, and more and more children are growing strong in God’s Word.
