- Welcome to "The Superbook Show."
- Today let's talk about sharing.
- Aw, I thought we were talking about art.
I even brought this to showcase my talent.
- What is that orange thing?
- Orange thing, oh, see,
that was supposed to be an ornament.
But now that I look at it,it looks more like a banana.
(chimpanzee laughs)
- Okay, let's talk about sharing.
- Sounds good.

So sharing, I'm guessing
someone ate all the Thin Mint cookies,
and now you want to preach to them
about how they should haveshared some with you first.
- Not that kind of sharing.
Wait, did somebody eatall my Thin Mint cookies?
Was it you? Was it you?
Was it you? Was it you?
I think it was Gizmo.
- Moving on. So what kind of sharing?
- Sharing, like sharing about yourself,
sharing your faith or sharing the gospel.
- Ah, you're still thinking
of Grace's question.(bell dings)
How can I tell other people about God
without feeling afraid or embarrassed?
- I am, we talked about the afraid
and embarrassment part in another episode,
but now I want to know, howdo you start a conversation
with someone about your faith?
- That's a good question.
(crickets chirp)
Oh, you wanted me to answer that?
- Yep, the only reason Ihost this "Superbook Show"
is to force you to answer my questions.
- Alrighty then, well, howdo you start a conversation
about God or your faith?
The universe? Dogs, cats?
- You're stalling.
- Okay, yeah, I'm stalling,but let's stall some more
and take a look at a time whenPhillip shared the gospel.
(dramatic music)
- [Holy Spirit] Go over andwalk along beside the carriage.
- He was humiliated andreceived no justice.
Who can speak of his descendants
for his life was taken from the earth?
- [Philip] Do you understandwhat you are reading?
- How can I, unless someone instructs me.
- Okay. Some good lessons in there.
- Yep, I should waiton the side of the road
until an Ethiopian eunuch drives by.
- I was thinking more, like, for starters,
listen for the Holy Spirit.
Phillip was there becausethe Holy Spirit guided him.
- Right. And how does thattranslate to, you know, us?
- Have you ever felt a promptinginside to talk to someone?
- Yeah, I usually try to ignore that
because what if someone doesn'twant me talking to them?
- The Holy Spirit knewthat the eunuch needed
to hear from somebody,it was God's timing.
- And I should trust God's timing.
- Yep, and another thing,
notice how Phillip didn't juststart preaching at the guy.
- He asked him a question.
Do you understand what you're reading?
- He asked him a question, and he sincerely asked it.
It wasn't a tactic or a way
of sneaking in his point of view.
- So what if the eunuchdidn't want to talk?
- Did God force you to believe in Him?
- Of course not.
- Do you think God would want you
to force Him onto other people?
- Right, hey, that's why it'scalled sharing the gospel
and not telling the gospel.
- And remember, it's a conversation.
Two people talking, it's not a sermon.
- What if I don't carewhat they have to say?
Not to be rude, but Ialready know the truth.
- If you don't care what they have to say,
then you aren't ready to share the gospel.
What's the greatest commandment?
- Love the Lord, your God.
And, before you ask, thesecond greatest commandment is
love your neighbor as yourself.
- I think that if youdon't understand that,
then you can't understand the good news.
- If I love my neighbor, I care enough
to let this be a dialogueand not a monologue.
- Yep, and I love how the Holy Spirit
told Philip to go beside.
Sharing is never, "I'm better than you,
so you should be like me."
- It's about coming alongside saying,
"Hey, we are the same, needing the same help.
Can I point you to where I found my help?"
- Couldn't have said it better myself.
- So look to the HolySpirit for prompting.
Ask questions. Listen, come alongside.
Is there more to sharing?
- A lot more, but fornext time, until then.
- His word is forever alive.
