WHAT YOU THINK OF PLASTIC SURGERY FOR WOMEN, LIKE A FACELIFT? IS IT A SIN OF VANITY? IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE DELIVERED FROM BAD FOOD HABITS AND PORNOGRAPHY AND STILL BE TEMPTED? Read Transcript

- [Pat] Here we go.

- This is Pines who says, "Hi, Pat.

"My daughter is 11 and hasfaced her parents' separation,

"her stepmother's cancer and death,

"and strain in her father'smarriage just within four years.

"I've been told by close friends

"that I should have mydaughter see a therapist.

"I'm not comfortable inseeking worldly counsel

"but seeking God's guidance for her.

"What are your thoughts?

- Well, my thoughts isthat an ungodly counselor

can do more harm than good.

We have a counselingschool in Regent University

and godly people.

But, you know, therelationship with the father,

I don't think you need apsychological counselor

to get somebody to praywith them and to love them

and to go day by day,

but you do need somebody to square off

and be like a surrogateparent, a surrogate mother,

a surrogate big sister or something

that would walk down the line

and say, "Here's what the Bible says."

That's what I would recommend

rather than trying to go tosome psychological counselor,

especially secular, you know?

Okay.

- Okay, this is MaryEllen, who says,

"Hi, Pat, love your show.

"Have been watching since the 1970s.

"I'm a widowed woman of 70

"and was wondering what youthink of plastic surgery

"for women, like a facelift?

"Is it a sin of vanity?

"I think I'll feel more confident,

"but don't want to be partof our worldly culture.

"Thank you and God bless you.

"You look great."

(Pat laughs)

- You know, I really don'tsee anything wrong with that.

It does cost a lot.

I mean, you're looking at somebody

that's gonna take 10, 20,$30,000 out of your pocket

to pay for it.

It's not covered by Medicare,

as far as I can tell, insurance program,

but I see nothing wrong withsomebody who wants to appear

to the best face on society.

And, Ellen, women put on makeup.

They do.

You want me to tell all thewomen not to wear makeup?

Of course not.- [Terry] That's a no.

(Terry and Pat laughing)

- Just saying.

- You have your hair fixed.

Well, this is just onemore cosmetic procedure.

But I tell you, some ofthese plastic surgeons,

they come out of the warand what they've done

to help wounded veterans is unbelievable.

The skill is beyond measurewhat they can accomplish.

So, my hat's off to plastic surgeon

because they are very good

and thank God for them, all right?

- This is Alex who says,

"Is it possible to bedelivered from bad food habits

"and pornography and still be tempted?"

- Yeah, of course you can still be tempted

if you're going to...

You know, Luther's the one that said

it's one thing to have thebirds fly over your head

and something else to letthem make a nest in your hair.

You know, those things, if you watch porn,

it's going to take control of you.

If you overeat, you'vegot to learn how to eat.

You've got to do, I tell you,

this gut flora thing is very important

and you need to haveintelligence in what you eat,

fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, that kind of thing.

The artificial sugars,

the sweets are what keepmaking you hungry and fat.

So, you know, the Biblesaid don't forsake wisdom,

all right?

- This is Deborah who says,

"In your book, "I HaveWalked with the Living God,"

"you stated to your wife, quote, not to complain

"or the uncomfortable situationwould never change, unquote.

"This is a learning moment for me.

"How does complainingcause us to stay stuck

"in a not-so-good situation?"

- Wow, you remember howthe children of Israel

were in the desert and theybegan to murmur against Moses

that I wish we could go back to Egypt.

Think of those leeks and cucumbers

and all that delicious food we had

and you've got nothingbut this manna to eat.

Well, the Bible says God sent them quail

and quail came down andthey had so much quail

it was running out their nose.

And then God says, okay, I'm mad at you.

We shouldn't complain.

And I told my wife, we wereliving in a horrible situation,

and I knew that if wecontinue to complain,

we would stay there.

And so I said don't complain.

You praise God.

We're gonna praise God

because we don't haveenough heating and cooling.

We praise God we've only got one bedroom.

We praise God that thisis a bad situation.

And you know what happened?

It wasn't too long.

The Lord, I went to see my benefactor.

I said, "What do you thinkof about my building a house?

He said, "I think it's a lousy idea."

He said, "If God tells you tobuild a house, He's wrong."

- [Terry] Oh my.

- He said, "Why should you build a house

"when I've got this lovelyplace out in the country?"

And we wound up, this gorgeous property

for rent-free with a stable,

everything I wanted and there it was,

but I didn't get it untilI began to praise God.

And when we praise Godin the bad situation,

God lifts the burden.

So please take that as an example.

Don't complain.

Wherever you are, don't complain.

Praise the Lord.

Always praise Him,

and out of praise will comea new dimension in your life.
