- Welcome back to The 700 Club.
It's time for your questions
and some honest answers from Pat.
Let's start with Amy's question.
She says why is it that someChristians don't believe
that God can raise the dead
or bring someone back from the dead?
There are so many storiesof near-death experiences
and those who have gone toheaven and then come back.
Jesus raised the dead and healed the sick.
Can't we do the same thing?
- Well, you kind of setthat up for me, didn't you?
The answer is of course we can.
The works that I do,Jesus said, you shall do.
And greater works than these
because I'm going to the Father.
So he said whatever I'vebeen doing, you can do.
The question is do we believe?
The Bible says when you cometo God, you have to believe
that He is and He's a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him.
So if you can believeall things are possible,
the question is do we believe?
Jesus said if you have faithas much as a little grain
of mustard seed, you can commandthis mountain to be moved
and it'll obey you.
The question is do we believe it?
Do we believe in God?
Do we believe we have that power?
Most people don't.
And the world will tell youyou can't possibly do it.
But the answer is read theBible and trust the word
and you can, all right.
- All right, Stephaniesays there's this guy
that I thought would be the one.
I prayed for God to bringus together and he did.
We talked about a futuretogether, we were together
for nine months until hisold high school ex-girlfriend
got a divorce and movedback into our little town.
He then broke up with meand started dating her
on the same day, saying thathe had never stopped loving her
and how he thinks theyare meant to be together.
I'm confused and feel lost.
I fully believed that he was the one
God wanted me to be with.
I learned so much and grewto become a better person
in that relationship.
Should I continue to pray and wait?
Or should I let him goand never look back?
- Oh, my dear, I thinkhe's found his sweetheart
from years back and he's gone with her.
And you are number two, not number one.
So I think the best thing isto let that relationship go.
You didn't get married,so it's no divorce.
There's nothing there.
So tough luck.
- And hey, he walked away.
Don't ever beg someone tocome back into your life.
- Absolutely.
- And plus, you have to realizeyou are a prize to be won.
You need to get my book.
It's called, You Are a Prize to be Won:
Don't Settle for Less Than God's Best.
Don't look back.
God has best for you.
It's still coming, all right.
- [Pat] Good word, all right.
- Judy says I have read in the Bible
that speaking in tongues is a gift
and also that if someoneis speaking in tongues,
someone should interpret.
I've been in a church where they say
everyone should speak in tongues.
I have prayed to Godto give me the ability
to speak in tongues, but it hasn't happened.
I'm not sure if it isbecause of fear or not.
What is your view on speaking in tongues?
Do you feel like it's a gift,
everyone should be able to do it?
- You know, the charismata asthey're called are not gifts,
they're not resident gifts.
They're are those who pray and Paul said,
when I pray in tongues,my spirit is edified
but my conscious mind has no fruit.
It's not edified.
He said, I'd rather speak threewords in the understanding
in the congregation than10,000 words in the tongue.
So speaking in tongues edifiesyour spirit so you can pray.
You can pray anytime you want to.
And you can pray in the spiritand pray in the language
of the Holy Spirit.
But in terms of in thecongregation, if you're going
to bring a message, thereneeds to be somebody
who can interpret inthe so-called vernacular
so people can understandwhat was happening.
And Paul said if a non-believercomes in your midst
and you're all babbling away in tongues,
he'll think you're crazy.
I mean, that's just the way it is.
So I don't know what you're asking me,
but I think that's the way it works, okay.
- All right, Linda says my pastor says
Jesus isn't coming back soon
because the church isso divided and in order
for Jesus to come back, thechurch must be in unity.
I asked him where it was in the Bible
and he said, "Ephesians 4."
I read the entire chapterbut didn't find this.
Please give me your insight.
- All right, look, what the Bible says
that we should be eager tomaintain the unity of the spirit
in the bonds of peace till we
"all come into the unity ofthe faith into a perfect man."
We haven't got the unity of the faith.
And Paul said that's somethingyou hope we'll all have,
but if we all had unity of the faith,
it wouldn't be hundredsof little splinter groups
and denominations.
But we're supposed tohave unity of the spirit.
We're supposed to have that.
That we earnestly hopeto come into the other.
I don't know anything in theBible that says we all got
to be in agreement beforethe Lord can come back.
I don't know where he gets that.
Maybe I missed something in the Bible,
but that's what the Bibledoes say, all right.
- All right, Marie says dear Pat,
I'm on a very tight budget.
If I don't tithe, willI still go to heaven?
And if I do tithe, do I haveto give my money to the church
or can I give it to ahomeless shelter if I choose?
I just wanna be obedient to the Lord.
- Look, the kind of moneyyou give or don't give
isn't gonna affect your eternal salvation.
It'll take away the blessing because give
and it'll be given unto you,
pressed down, good measure,
running overfull heap in your bosom.
So it's the law of reciprocity.
As you give, it'll be given back to you.
So I think it's notaccording to what you have.
It's according to a man'spurpose in his heart
and then give joyfully.
And it's for your benefit.
And I can't go into allthe recipients of it,
but I think it's to your benefit
to be able to givesomething because as you do,
it will be a blessing back to you.
