HOW WOULD YOU PRAY AGAINST SOMETHING LIKE THIS? HOW DO I GET RID OF AN EVIL OR DEMONIC ATTACHMENT? I'M STRUGGLING WITH LEAVING. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Read Transcript

- Well we have lots of emailquestions from you today,

and so, Pat, let's startwith this one from Judy.

- [Pat] All right.

- [Terry] She says, "Both of my sons,

"who are in their late 40s and early 50s,

"are addicted to chewing tobacco.

"I think both of them would like to quit

"and have quit for awhile, but always go back.

"I believe all addictions are demonic

"and that's why they'reso difficult to break.

"Satan has, in my opinion, builta stronghold in their minds

"and they're being heldcaptive to this addiction.

"I know the youngest one is born again

"and the oldest one claims tobe, but has no fruit to show.

"I think it is a generationalstronghold or curse

"because nicotine addictionhas been in the family.

"How would you pray againstsomething like this?

"I want my sons set free."

- Well, very frankly, ifyou want a practical answer

to that one, show them some pictures

of somebody who's gotcancer of the throat.

And that stuff, chewing tobacco,

will lead to cancer of thethroat, which is just horrible.

And you show somebody withhalf of their face gone

and you can say this iswhat that stuff does to you.

You put a wad of that in your cheek

and the next thing youknow, it's cancerous,

so you have to cut your cheek out.

That's what I would recommend.

Now, demonic, I don't know.

I think you're right,I think addiction's...

The devil will lay hold of an addiction

and amplify it, but the addiction is there

because of the pull of the nicotine

and it is a habit-forming type of thing.

But it's a fairly easy one to break.

I mean it's chewing tobacco.

It's not exactly something

that is a hard thing to get rid of.

You just have to stop.

It's a nasty subject.

You know, the congressmenup in Washington,

each one used to have, as partof their office furniture,

was a spittoon so they could chew tobacco

and spit in the spittoon.

I mean it's part of the furniturein a congressman's office.

- Just presumed that they would be--

- Yeah, cause I mean, they all chew tobacco.

Well, it's not a cool thing.

Okay, but that is what I would recommend.

Get pictures of somebodywhose face has been eaten out

by that mess and that's what it'll do.

Alright.- This is Matthew.

He says, "How do I get rid ofan evil or demonic attachment?

"I've had a priest from mychurch come and bless my home,

"and I do so every day with holy water.

"It scratched my wifeand woke me from sleep,

"shaking the bed.

"It's a very negativefeeling, and I've had this

"evil attachment my whole life.

"A medium said once that Ihave this black cloud over me.

"I am of the Lord and haveused the name of Jesus Christ

"many times, and it still doesn't work.

"What more can I do?"

- Well I recommend youbring some people who

know the Lord and have gotexperience in casting out demons.

And what you need to do isto say, "Satan I bind you

"and the forces of eviland I cast you forth."

But you have to mean it, you have to--

you're playing with this thing.

You don't play with devilsand the last thing you do,

you don't sing songs to them.

You know those peoplewho sing songs to demons?

No way, you don't serenade them.

You speak in a voice of command and

the demon's got to know itand you've got to know it

and whoever you believe in your heart,

you'll have the thing that you say.

So say it, "In the name ofJesus, I bind you, Satan,"

and the demons will leave, but only when they know

that you are serious, alright?

- Is there any connection,Pat, do you think

between the fact that hesays, "a medium once said,"

that means somewhere along the way--

- Oh, he's been involved in witchcraft

and all this other stuff, of course.

- [Terry] Consulted, yeah.

- But I mean, he's opened himself

to these things by going to mediums.

So I mean, I've heard of one demon saying,

"Well, we had permission."

The guy was demon possessedand the demon said,

"We had permission," well hemay have given them permission,

but it's obvious, in thisquestion, you're playing with it.

You don't play, it's serious business.

- Okay, this is a viewer who says,

"I've been a part-time secretary

"for a church for about ten years.

"Several years ago while my husband

"was in college full-time,

"we were struggling financially,

"and I started takingmoney from the petty cash

"that I have access to with the intention

"of putting it all back.

"However, the amount accumulated,

"so I was never able to return it.

"My husband is working now,

"and I told him what I didand how I feel a heavy burden

"for what I've done becausein essence it was stealing.

"He said we should definitelypay it back somehow.

"I've confessed and repented of my sin,

"and also asked God for forgiveness.

"My question is: Do Ihave to tell my boss,

"the pastor, of mywrongdoing, or can I pay back

"what I owe anonymously?

"I'm truly afraid andashamed to come clean."

- I think you have todecide this yourself.

If you confess it you mightwind up going to jail.

I think if you can pay that money back,

I wouldn't let sleep cometo your eyes until you--

- [Terry] Get it straight.

- Yeah, it can't be that much.

And if it's a sacrifice, sacrifice,

but get that money back into that church.

Then, you feel what you feel,

whether you should confess it or not.

Beyond that, I can't tellyou one way or the other.

You've got to do what you'reled to do on this one.

But you understand that what you may be

opening yourself up isa criminal prosecution.

And you might not need it and the Lord

might not want you to have it.

But I do think, the biggest thing is

get the money back as fast as you can.

And don't just take ten dollars a month

and think you can doit, I mean, sacrifice.

Get that thing as fastas you can pay it off.

- Okay this is Gail whosays, "When I met my husband,

"I was a believer, but nottruly following Christ.

"I married him, and 21 yearslater I've never felt so alone.

"I found over the years that he has grown

"deeper and deeper into porn.

"The last time that Icaught him, I asked him why?

"He said that I didn't turnout to be what he expected.

"He likes big women, and I'm not.

"We haven't had a relationship ever.

"I'm struggling with leaving."What should I do?"

- Oh, just keep on going.

You're struggling with leaving, leave.

"He wants a big woman, and wehaven't any relationship..."

I mean, it said "ever"?Did he say "ever"?

- That's what she says, "We haven't had

"a relationship ever."

- Well then the marriagenot been consummated,

it can be annulled and ifyou're telling me the truth

and there's never been any consummation

of your maritalrelationships, that is grounds

for an annulment, but I'ddo it as fast as I could.

And make sure since you've been together,

married for a number ofyears, get a good lawyer.

But this guy is committing, what I consider,

is an act of adultery inthis pornography thing.

And, I don't know, if he's got this,

the chances are he's cheating on the side,

you just don't even know about it.

But you have scriptural, biblical grounds

for divorce, get one, alright.

- This is a viewer whosays, "Pat, I've heard that

"there is actually noperfect Bible translation,

"but for the English language

"there is one calledThe Interlinear Bible.

"It is said to be one ofthe most accurate versions

"because of its literal text,

"and because it has Hebrew and Greek.

"Have you ever heard of such a Bible?

"And if so, do you think it is

"better than any of the others?"

- Well, Interlinear, sometimesit's when you get things

too literal you don'treally get the full meaning

of what the Greek says.

The Interlinear, you readthe Greek and underneath it

is the English translation, but you're gonna miss

some of the full richness of it.

But the American standard, the new International version,

they're all versions ofthe Hebrew and the Greek.

And then the which textdo you use to translate?

But the Interlinear is, it'sokay but unless you're a

Greek scholar or a Hebrew scholarit won't mean much to you.
