Selah Debuts at No. 1 with 'Bless The Broken Road – The Duets Album'

– NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Bless The Broken Road – The Duets Album, the fifth studio recording from award-winning Curb artist Selah, debuted in the #1 position on Nielsen SoundScan’s Current Contemporary Christian Overall chart for the week ending August 13. With sales of more than 18,000 units, Bless The Broken Road – The Duets Album also entered the all-genre Nielsen SoundScan Top Current Albums chart at #43, marking the trio’s highest debut ever on that chart.
Produced by Jason Kyle, Todd Smith and Allan Hall, Bless The Broken Road – The Duets Album is Selah’s first new recording in more than two years and introduces the group’s new female vocalist, Amy Perry. In addition to the Top 5 Christian AC hit, “Bless The Broken Road,” featuring Melodie Crittenden, The Duets Album includes collaborations with Nichole Nordeman, BarlowGirl, Nicole C. Mullen, Plumb, Kim Hill, Jason and Adam Crabb, Christy Nockels, Jill Phillips and Cynthia Clawson.
In support of Bless The Broken Road – The Duets Album, Selah is making a string of key appearances around the country. Last week they headlined a KLTY Radio Brown Bag concert in Dallas, as well as a KSBJ Radio Brown Bag in Houston, with each appearance drawing more than 1,000 people. Selah also performed a special parking lot concert sponsored by Family Christian Stores and WCSG Radio in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last week. The store that hosted the event is a top seller of Selah recordings in the Family retail chain.
Selah appeared live on DayStar TV’s “Celebration” program Tuesday, and the group was also a guest yesterday on FamilyNet TV’s flagship morning show, “At Home Live!”, where they performed the album’s title-cut, along with their 2004 breakthrough hit, “You Raise Me Up.”
Known for their fresh interpretations of hymns and classic Christian songs, Selah surpassed career sales of more than 1 million albums in 2005. Earlier this year, recordings by Selah simultaneously garnered the top four positions on the Nielsen Christian SoundScan Inspirational Overall chart. Selah has received five GMA Music Awards, including three for Inspirational Album of the Year, as well as nominations for Artist and Group of the Year. Selah’s #1 hits include “All My Praise,” “Press On,” “Wonderful, Merciful Saviour,” and the multi-format breakthrough, “You Raise Me Up.”
