- Hi everyone, welcome
to "The 700 Club."
The epidemic of school shootings
has parents demanding action
to keep their children safe.
School security has become
a $3 billion a year industry
with much of that cost invested
in high tech equipment.
- Experts say the money
would be better spent
on training staff and students
to recognize and
respond to threats.
National Security Correspondent
Caitlin Burke explains.
- [Caitlin] School
security has grown
to a $3 billion industry,
with investments from video
surveillance technology
to bulletproof doors
and electronic locks.
And while technology
is important,
experts say it likely would
not prevent the next attack.
- When people are the problem,
people are always
gonna be the solution.
- [Caitlin] Jimmy
Graham is the CEO
and founder of Able Shepherd,
an elite active shooter
training program
in Denver, Colorado.
(gun fires)
- Stay down!
Hey!
- [Caitlin] Graham says
it's people knowing
exactly what to do in an
emergency that saves lives.
- So I'll walk into an
institution and I'll say,
"Can I talk to this
lady right here?"
And I say, "Ma'am, what would
you do if you heard gunshots?"
She says, "I don't know."
I say, "Well, that's
where we need to start."
- [Caitlin] Drawing on his
background as a Navy SEAL
and involvement with the
CIA's Global Response staff,
Graham developed DEFEND.
The acronym stands
for defense, evacuate,
fortify, emergency medical aid,
notify others and dial 911,
a strategy based on
international safety protocols.
- There's an unbelievably
efficient model
for protecting our
diplomats overseas,
but not our children, right?
So why is that?
'Cause it's the same model.
That model, what I've
done is I've scaled it
and said, we don't need...
Some of this stuff
is not applicable,
but to bring that back home
and place the principles.
Here's the defensive principle,
to get to them, you
have to go through me.
- Abel Shepherd also
provides training
for those likely to respond
to active shooter situations,
whether that be an
individual, a security team,
law enforcement or even faculty.
The training is reality based,
allowing those who go through it
to experience live scenarios.
- Gunshot, gun out, be ready!
Be ready, be ready (screams).
- Get down, get down!
Get down.
- (screams) tell them
to stay down.
(guns fire)
- [Caitlin] Graham
stresses that,
even with all the right tools,
security plans won't work
if school leaders don't
maintain the proper environment.
- The best way to
describe it would be this.
I get a whole faculty
together and I say,
"Whose job is it to
protect this place?"
And everybody at the
same time says, "Mine."
- In 1999 as a first
responder at Columbine,
Deacon Ernie Martinez
experienced the moment
the country realized children
weren't safe at school.
- The big wake up call
was twofold, I think.
Number one is evil does exist
without any reasons
for it, right?
And number two is
it woke us up too
as not only a law
enforcement community,
but as a community as a whole
that everybody should
participate in-
- [Caitlin]
Martinez, now retired
after 40 years in
law enforcement,
is the Director of Deacons
for the Archdiocese of Denver.
Among his roles, helping
schools in the archdiocese
come up with security plans.
- The important thing
is collaboration,
leveraging assets,
partnering with
local law enforcement
because we have parishes
and churches and schools
all across Northern Colorado
and everybody is in their own
different financial
statuses, right?
So you need to partner with
your local law enforcement.
You need to partner
with local schools,
whether they're
public schools or not.
- [Caitlin] It's
common sense steps
like training and collaboration
that experts believe
provide schools
the best chance at
stopping an active shooter,
since preventing them
entirely is highly unlikely.
- We're unique, right?
What does America have that
other countries don't have?
Two things.
One, a second amendment
and two more guns than people.
By most accounts, there's
over 450 million guns
for just over 300
million people.
- Back in 2016, research
from Johns Hopkins University
found even the highest
price technology
did nothing to help
stop mass shootings.
Researchers writing, quote,
"There is no universal
school safety solution.
No one technology will solve
all school safety
and security issues.
The sheer number of schools
and school districts
across the country
with different
geography, funding,
building construction
and layout,
demographics and priorities
make each one different."
- What does school safety
look like in our country?
It looks as bad as Uvalde
and as good as Tennessee
and everything in the middle,
- [Caitlin] Former DC Homeland
Security Chief Donell Harvin
says it's important that people
keep talking about
school security
even after the news
cycle moves on.
- Many people are
apathetic and have given up
and many people are desensitized
and we can't allow that apathy
and that kind of mindset
to take hold the fact
that the next
shooter is planning
and there's kids
in that classroom.
- When it comes to
school security,
parents can also
make a difference.
The key is communication.
Ask your child's school
what they're doing,
what they're not,
and then don't stop asking
until you get the right answer.
Caitlin Burke, CBN News,
Denver, Colorado.
- Thank you, Caitlin.
You heard that
security expert say
that many folks are
desensitized at this point.
However, most if not all parents
who see their children go
off to school on the bus
or they drop them off at the
front entrance of the school,
pray or are concerned that day
about the safety
of their children.
In this country, we
shouldn't live that way.
So I'm so glad to hear
these trainings going on.
Interesting too, the
technology really
is not the difference maker,
it's parents and
students and faculty
and teachers being
vigilant and aware.
We'll be back with more of "The
700 Club" right after this.

- There's a new weapon on
the rise in modern warfare.
US Air Force leaders
point to small drones
as one of the top
threats in combat.
Mark Martin traveled to
the top military site
tasked with meeting
this challenge.
Here's his report from
Grand Forks Air Force Base
in North Dakota.
- [Mark] Russia's war on Ukraine
is bringing drone
warfare front and center.
Showcasing how these
unmanned aerial vehicles
are used for
surveillance and combat,
this footage reportedly released
by Ukrainian Special Forces
appears to show a
drone destroying
a Russian armored
vehicle and tank.
Then there's actually
drone-on-drone combat.
This video depicts
a drone dog fight
reportedly involving equipment
used for surveillance
by Ukrainian and
Russian armed forces.
- There's very little protection
in the way of
anti-drone measures.
- [Mark] And it's
not just in the air.
Here you see what appears
to be a Ukrainian sea drone
attacking a Russian tanker
ship in the Black Sea.
At North Dakota's Grand
Forks Air Force Base,
they're not taking the
use of drones lightly.
The 319th Reconnaissance
Wing Small UAS Program
is the first in Air
Combat Command to
utilize such a program
with operators from
multiple units.
- You don't have to go far
to go look at what's happening
around the world, right?
It is no secret
what our adversaries
are doing with these things.
- [Mark] Captain Matthew
Crowell is the Vice Chairman
for Small Unmanned Aerial
Systems Operations here.
- These things can be weaponized
and they can be used to
hurt people and things.
And unfortunately
what that means is we
as the Department of Defense
in the United States Air Force
have to go out there
and counter that threat.
- [Mark] One drone
that airmen train on
is the quadcopter
style Skydio X2D.
The Security Forces Unit
employs it to defend the base
through perimeter
scans or identifying
threats from the sky.
That use can also
transfer to oversea bases.
- That goes even beyond
into the deployed
missions that we serve
where our commanders are
constantly under threat
from the outside
of the wire threat.
Those threats are
immediately answered
by this type of technology.
- [Mark] Senior Airman Tavi
Effron operates the drone
and says it's pretty
impressive what they can do.
- For instance, maybe
active shooters,
there's something
locating an individual
in that aspect to get eyes on
so somebody else who is in
part of that mission control
can see what's going on
and maybe redirect us in ways
that we didn't think on
the ground could be done.
- [Mark] Crowell
says they also use it
for aircraft recovery training
and if required could fly
it to survey a crash site.
- You would see
whatever the camera sees
on the aircraft itself.
- [Mark] Members of the
Aircraft Maintenance Unit
gave us a demo of
the Skydio X2D.
- [Matthew] So I'm gonna get
a little bit of altitude here
to get away from things,
change over to my
waypoint mission
and then I'll just hit play
and then the aircraft does
what it's already told to do.
- [Mark] Master Sergeant
Matthew Roberts says
using a system like this to
survey and assess damages
saves time, money and resources.
- It eliminates a lot
of boots on the ground
and a sense to do what we
need to in a short time
and capture what we need to
without spending a lot of
resources ahead of time
to make the job and the mission
happen quickly and safely.
- There are actually two
active duty military missions
involving unmanned
aerial systems
operating here at Grand
Forks Air Force Base.
In addition to the Skydio,
which you already saw,
another unit operates what's
called the RQ-4 or Global Hawk.
You're looking at the
world's largest drone.
The 348th Reconnaissance
Squadron here
flies the Global Hawk.
The long endurance aircraft
can reach extremely
high altitudes
of 50 to 60,000 feet.
Captain Mark Cochrane remotely
pilots the large scale system
that provides global day
or night intelligence,
surveillance and reconnaissance.
- The RQ-4 Global Hawk is a
premier intelligence asset
that is one of the only assets
that's capable of giving
such a long collection time
without needing
aerial refueling.
And I feel like that's
its biggest bring
to any kind of AOR or
combatant commander.
- [Mark] Brad Bowman
of the Foundation for
Defense of Democracies
calls these drone systems
fundamentally important
to the US military.
- We really are
unfortunately continue
to be in an arms race
against adversaries
that are building drones.
Obviously, Russia has drones.
They're working with
Iran on their drones.
China is a major developer
and exporter of drones.
The country that has the
most advanced drones,
the right quantity of drones
and employs them effectively,
it's gonna have life
and death consequences
on the battlefield.
- [Mark] And airmen at the
Grand Forks Air Force Base
are fully aware,
describing this tech as a
game changer in a time of war
and another way
Americans can feel safe.
Mark Martin, CBN News,
Grand Forks, North Dakota.
- Well indeed, warfare
has certainly changed,
less boots on the ground.
And to think that
that Global Hawk
goes 60,000 feet in
altitude, incredible.
It's a great look at
how our US military,
particularly the Air Force,
is seeking to combat
international threats.
Thank you so much, Mark.
Terry?

- Bill remembers two
things from his accident,
first, the pain.
That's understandable
considering that he had
multiple broken bones.
The second thing he remembers,
the prayers from his family
and that he says is
what saved his life.
- [Narrator] It had been hours
since Phyllis Phelps'
husband, Bill,
left to run a quick errand
before they went on vacation.
Finally, she called him.
- And I thought,
what in the world?
She said, "Bill's been
in a bad accident.
We don't know if
he's gonna make it."
- [Narrator] The woman,
who Phyllis knew,
had seen it happen.
Bill was going through an
intersection on his motorcycle
when a van ran a red light.
Swerving to avoid a collision,
he lost control and was thrown
40 feet across the pavement.
He wasn't wearing a helmet.
- It was so many emotions
at one time that hit you.
My first instinct
is always to pray.
- [Narrator] When Phyllis
arrived at the local hospital,
the staff was prepping
Bill for a medevac flight
to Dartmouth Hitchcock
Medical Center
in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
- My prayer was, "Oh
God, just let him live."
Bill was out and I
just touched his foot
and I prayed to the Lord.
And I felt like the Holy Spirit,
not in an audible
voice, but just said,
"Believe for life."
- [Narrator] Soon after,
Phyllis and her adult children
began the 70-mile drive to
Dartmouth Medical Center.
- We didn't know
if we would make it
to the hospital before he died.
- [Narrator] After they arrived,
Phyllis learned Bill
had numerous injuries
that included
several broken ribs,
a punctured lung and a
nearly severed spine.
One injury, however,
was life threatening,
a level four brain trauma
that would require
immediate surgery
to get the brain
swelling under control,
if Phyllis agreed.
- The doctor said to me,
"If we don't do the
surgery, he will surely die.
If he does live, he would
probably be a vegetable."
So that was to be factored
in on my decision.
"Are you ready to
take care of someone
for the rest of their life?"
I said, "Of course, do
what you can to save him."
They said, "You and your
children need to say goodbye."
And so, I brought
the kids in the room
and I said,
"God has the final say."
- [Narrator] Doctors
removed part of Bill's skull
to alleviate the pressure
on his swollen brain.
Now, as Bill lay in a
medically induced coma,
all they could do was wait.
- It wasn't hopeful
and I didn't know how much
of him I would get back.
- [Narrator] Soon, the waiting
room was full of people
praying for Bill and the family.
- Even though I was in
such sorrow, in such shock,
I never felt away from
the presence of the Lord.
- [Narrator] Because it
was a frontal lobe injury,
Bill's doctors gave
Phyllis little hope
that Bill's memory
would recover.
By day 12, the brain
swelling had gone down enough
that they were able to
bring him out of the coma.
- He didn't know
who we all were.
I didn't know if he
would ever remember us.
- I remember extraordinary
amount of pain.
I remember my family
praying for me.
- [Narrator] Two days later,
Bill transferred to
Catholic Medical Center
in Manchester, New
Hampshire, for rehab.
There he started relearning
how to eat, speak and walk.
Even then, doctors
didn't expect Bill
would make a full recovery.
- The doctors took
me in and told me
that I wouldn't get
my husband back.
He will be a very different
man than I'm used to
and I needed to prepare myself.
- [Narrator] Meanwhile,
Bill had more
than just physical struggles.
- I had a walking and talking
relationship with God.
How could He let
this happen to me?
Frustration turned into anger,
mostly because
I couldn't understand.
- And he would say to me,
"I can't find myself."
And I would tell him,
"God knows where you're at.
God knows exactly
where you're at
and He will find you."
- [Narrator] By now,
people all over the world
were praying for Bill.
Over the next month,
he slowly improved
and on September 10th, he
was released to go home.
- Getting him home
was a great victory,
but having him there
was great challenge.
You could feel the prayers.
It gave me a lot of hope.
- A lot of determination
mostly because
of the love that I
was surrounded by
by my family,
all those praying for me.
- [Narrator] While Bill
continued with outpatient rehab,
he says his perspective
toward God began to change.
- My anger has turned
into being thankful.
I don't like what happened
to me, I never will.
I don't understand, I
never will understand.
I try now to thank Him for
the things that are happening,
the blessings that I
get to enjoy every day.
I have eight grandchildren,
six of them I would've never met
if God didn't spare my life.
- Bill would still
need multiple surgeries
and rehab over the
next two years.
With the help of
physical therapy,
he is almost back
to his normal life.
'Cause he kept improving,
he did walk again.
He sat at the supper
table, he mowed a lawn,
he learned to drive again.
It's been a long, long haul
and it's not been easy
for either one of us.
- [Narrator] Today Bill
and Phyllis believe
that it was the power of prayer
that brought him back
to the life he loves.
- God's a miracle worker.
He's still in the
miracle working business.
- Jesus Christ is faithful.
No matter what you face,
don't turn from God, run to Him.
He's worthy to
put your trust in.
He doesn't want you to walk
through this life alone.
Whatever injuries
you sustain in life,
you need Jesus Christ.
That's the answer.
- It is the answer, isn't it?
Life is full of suddenly
when we least expect it,
things happen that
we didn't see coming
and they are life
changing very often.
And yet I love
what his wife said,
God has the final word.
And so today, I don't
know what your need is.
I don't know what your petition
to the Lord is about or for,
but I know this, He
has the final answer.
And I also know
that just like Bill,
He knows your name, He
knows where you are,
He knows what
you're going through
and He has that promise
He's made to all of us
that all things,
not some things,
but all things maybe
especially the difficult,
negative, challenging things
work together for good
to those who love God.
That's you, that's you.
So today, we wanna join
hearts, join hands with you.
We wanna pray for you
right in the midst
of your circumstance
and ask God to make a difference
in what it is you're facing.
So let's do that together.
Okay, ready?
Let's pray.
Well, Father, we love You.
We know that You are bigger
than anything we can imagine.
We know that involved
in all of this,
what You're asking us to do
is to surrender
to Your goodness,
to trust Your heart,
especially when we
can't see anything,
especially when we
don't understand
why things have happened.
To believe that Your
heart is good all the time
and that your goodness
is chasing after us
as Your children, God,
promising to bring
good out of negative,
to bring life out of death,
to bring hope out of darkness.
Move in our
circumstances today, God.
Show us what it is you want
to do and give us the heart.
Give us the will.
Give us the mind.
Give us the spirit to receive
exactly what you want
to give us today, Lord.
We thank you in advance
for your goodness.
- Someone's been
battling dizziness.
In fact, you're sitting
watching this program
because you need to sit
because when you walk,
you need to put your hand
on furniture to
stabilize yourself
and that dizziness
is gonna go away now
in the name of Jesus.
God wants to do something
mighty in your life.
Thank you, Lord.
- Someone else you've
damaged through a fall
or some kind of accident
the bridge of your nose.
And ever since that's happened,
you've had almost
daily migraines
and just a sense of a
band around your head
that's so pressured
and uncomfortable.
God's healing that right
now in Jesus' name.
Feel it just come off
of you and be set free.
- This is not a
physical condition,
but there's someone,
I believe it's a man,
who needs wisdom from God
and he's nervous or
fearful of asking God
for wisdom for his life
or the direction he should go
because he feels like he's
just made so many mistakes
and dishonored God so much,
he has no right to ask it.
And James, we read,
if you need wisdom,
ask God for it who
will give it freely.
But don't doubt, believe.
God wants to give us wisdom.
And for this man in particular,
he wants to impart
wisdom upon you.
Get ready for Him to speak
to you now in Jesus' name.
Someone else, you have a
very severe tailbone injury.
I mean, it has left
you with so much pain
and your mobility
is affected by it.
You've been told that there's
nothing more that can be done.
God has the final word.
You're being healed
today in Jesus' name.
Just lift up your hands
and begin to praise
Him and thank Him.
- Someone, I don't know
if it's a man or a woman,
but is out of rehab either
for drugs or alcohol,
substance abuse and it
was a long addiction
and you're out and
now it's now what?
Where do I go now?
Who do I speak to?
The now what, the next is Jesus
and He just wants to say,
"Focus on Me," the Lord says.
That is the direction.
Focus on the Father
and He will lead
you in Jesus' name.
Thank you for that
word of comfort, Lord.
- Someone else, you
have a condition
that just keeps
coming up with spots
like it's on your tongue,
it's even around your
mouth on the outside.
I don't really know what it is,
but God's healing that
condition for you right now.
You'll be able to taste again.
You're not gonna have
the discomfort of that,
the pain of that.
In Jesus' name, be made whole.
- There was a couple,
a husband and wife
watching that miracle story,
as they're in the ER and
their faith was inspired
and the story's concluded
and now we're praying
and they're starting
to feel that faith
just kind of go
down a little bit
and the Lord wants
to speak to you
and get your attention again
and say, "I am with you.
I am with your child.
My Holy Spirit is
present with you.
I ask for a mustard
seed of faith."
Don't lose sight of the
Lord in this situation.
He is powerful.
Thank you, Father.
- Sometimes God is working
more when we can't see Him
and doing things that
we couldn't begin
to understand or accept.
Just today, lift up your hands
and begin to praise
and thank the Lord
for what He's
doing in your life.
Even if you don't have any
kind of a serious physical
or financial or psychological
need, just thank Him.
God inhabits the
praises of His people.
Just invite Him
into that moment,
that place in your
life in Jesus' name.
Thank you, God,
for your goodness.
We worship you today.
Amen.
- Amen, Amen.
- I want you to know that if
you have a need of any kind,
we'd love to pray for you.
Not here on the air right now,
but our phones are
always open to you.
And so, feel free to
call 1-800-700-7000.
There's always a
friend standing by
to pray for whatever
your need is
and they'll do it specifically.
So call now.
- In the last five minutes
of my labor and delivery
was when I noticed
something was wrong.
They put her on my chest
and right away
they took her away
and she wasn't crying and
she looked sort of gray.
I didn't know if she
was gonna live or die.
Then they came back in the room
and said she's had
a brain injury.
That's when I really
started praying,
"God, please,
please let her mind be okay."
Turned on the TV and just
randomly flipping the channels,
here's CBN.
It really lifted me up.
It gave me that little bit
of hope I needed at the time.
After that, I really
felt like things
started moving even more.
She went from being behind
to advanced for her age.
I could never deny
the power of prayer.
I would always just
say, pray and pray more
and just keep trusting God.
His word is true.
He saw me through
all the bad things
I thought would
happen to my daughter
and He healed her.
Psalms 34:4, "I sought the
Lord and He answered me.
He delivered me from
all of my fears."
- I've been a
missionary for 31 years.
And it's outstanding
when you are just a lay person,
watch God work through you.
And He does these miracles
and I've seen it over and over.
I give to CBN because,
one, I believe in it.
They do such great
missionary work.
I wanted to be a part of it.
The day I chose to
leave a legacy with CBN
was the happiest day of my life.
Leaving the legacy
is important to me
because I know when I leave,
this work is going to continue
because it's a monetary legacy.
So the needs will
continue to be met
and the gospel will
continue to go out
so people would be blessed.

- I just turned and
an excruciating pain
came in my knee on the inside
and it was like a jabbing knife.
I made it to the doctor.
Found out it was
a torn meniscus.
So having the knee injury,
having to slow down
was depressing.
I was like, "Lord, heal this."
Sitting on the couch,
"The 700 Club" came on
and that's when I saw Gordon on.
- We say out loud to it,
be healed
and be made whole.
May all pain leave me
in Jesus' name.
I receive it now.
Now what you couldn't
do before, do now.
- By faith, I'm
going to do this.
By faith, I'm gonna walk.
And I was walking,
it wasn't hurting.
I know that God healed me
beyond a shadow of a doubt.
- [Child] I was hungry and
you gave me something to eat.
- [Child] I was thirsty and
you gave me something to drink.
- [Child] I was sick
and you looked after me.
- [Announcer] Today, consider
kicking off the holiday season
by giving a gift that will
change lives all year long.
Now through Giving Tuesday,
your gift will be
matched by CBN partners.
Together we can all give back
as a thank you for
our many blessings.
- KC dreamed of
becoming an MMA fighter.
He trained nearly every day.
He sparred with other
professional fighters,
even making some
of them tap out.
Still there was one
fight he couldn't win
and it nearly cost
him his marriage.
- As a married man, I had no
business being in there, none.
And I just fell to lust.
And lust is heavy.
I always used to judge
David until I became him.
- [Narrator] KC Miles was a
champion high school wrestler
with a rough past.
During his junior year,
he fell in love with
his classmate, Melissa,
who was a devout Christian.
- We became friends first.
And at the same time,
my Spanish teacher
introduced to me the Bible.
He started reading me Scripture
and asking me if I
knew who Jesus was.
So I started doing
Bible study with Him
and Melissa saw that
and that gave her some
confidence to date me.
Those seeds that
were planted in me
by my Spanish teacher were
important, very important.
- They got married when
they were 19 years old.
KC wrestled in junior college,
then began training
for MMA cage fighting.
- When we were young and
at that stage in our life,
fighting was relatively new.
So, I didn't know really what
to expect as far as lifestyle
and how it would
affect our marriage.
- I wanted to win.
I wanted to show people
that the underdog can
win, like the Rocky.
I wanted to live that story.
I wanted to get in that
cage and I wanted to fight.
- I was tapping pro fighters.
Once I seen that, I was like,
"This is me, I'm a fighter."
- [Narrator] In his
hometown in California,
KC poured himself into MMA
training nearly every day.
On the weekends, he
trained in Las Vegas
with a goal of
fighting in the UFC.
- My wrestling coach, Rocky,
he warned me against training
with certain people in MMA,
and he told me how
it'll change you
and he meant morally.
This is when the
problem started for me.
I didn't know how
professional athletes were.
I went to the strip
clubs with them.
And at first when I went,
my hand shook violently.
And it only did
that three times.
And after the third time, my
hand didn't shake anymore.
I knew it was wrong
being in there,
but it was so exotic.
Just seeing all that, I
was like, "What the heck?"
I mean, there were
all kinds of girls.
Every shape and color
and flesh is powerful,
absolutely powerful.
That temptation
was heavy, heavy.
And I did not like it
because I knew it was wrong.
Every time I left, I
literally looked up and said,
"I'm sorry, God."
I knew what I was
doing was wrong,
but I couldn't stop.
I kept going back to
those strip clubs.
- [Narrator] Before long,
KC gave into temptation
and began having an
affair with a dancer.
Melissa found out what was
going on and was devastated.
- I couldn't bear it anymore.
I was at the end of my rope.
I was constantly sad,
depressed,
and I asked him to choose.
He was a fighter
and I wanted him
to fight for us.
- I was trying to buy time
because I was trying to get
on the Ultimate Fighters show.
And she went to the bank
and got half the money
out of the bank account.
And she comes home and
she divvies it out.
And she says, "No,
you have a choice.
Half of this is yours.
If you want that life, you go.
Take this money and
leave your ring.
I'm within my right
to divorce you."
And when she said
that, it scared me,
because Melissa is
truly, in my mind,
the only person that
loved me unconditionally.
And that's when I called
up my Spanish teacher
and I asked him, "What do I do?"
And he says, "You get
down on your knees
and you cry out to God."
And I was like, "I don't
have time for this crap."
I had become so egotistical,
I didn't have time for God.
I didn't have time for Jesus.
It was all about me,
I was so selfish.
I wanted to be in the UFC,
I wanted to be a champion.
He came up and showed me
who I was in the Bible.
And I'm like, "That's not me."
He said, "What
are you gonna do?"
And
I picked Melissa,
I picked my wife.
And when she came home from
work that day, I was still home.
And she goes, "Good.
Now you're moving."
- [Narrator] KC moved in
with his high school
Spanish teacher
and avoided outside
influences from the MMA world.
Instead, he began
reading the Bible.
- When I started
reading about Jesus,
there is nothing else I wanted.
- I was hooked from the very
second I opened that Bible.
I had nothing else.
There was nothing
else I could do.
I couldn't go to the gym,
I was working out at home,
but I just went in the
Bible and I'm like, "Why?"
I would just look up and say,
"Why do you do this for us?
I know who I am, I'm selfish."
And I just started falling
in love with Jesus.
And I just started
to miss my wife.
And I spent six months
alone without her.
And that's when I started
to grow with the Lord.
- [Narrator] Melissa
saw the changes
taking place in KC's
heart and character.
- He was turning the tables.
He was thinking more about us
as a couple and our marriage,
and God's plan
than his plan,
than his own plan.
- As I got closer to Jesus,
I was getting closer to Melissa.
We would read Bibles together.
We'd read scripture together
and then go work out together.
And she became my
training partner.
She became my best friend.
I fell in love with
Melissa different.
I fell in love with her soul.
- [Narrator] KC committed
his life to Christ.
They moved back in together
and soon after started a family.
Today their marriage is solid
with Jesus as the foundation.
- Man, we were just
too young people.
It was real love, it really was,
but I was in love
with myself, too.
Now I'm in love
with her and not me
and that's what
picking up your cross
and carrying it daily means,
is pick Him and you pick
your wife over yourself.
- God came in back into my life,
back into my husband's life,
and we both had to really
just trust and rely on Him
and grow in Him.
And I think that's one of
the most important things,
is that we both chose
to stay together
and grow towards God.
- I have a good life
and I don't deserve it,
but
I'm grateful.
- If your marriage
is struggling,
be encouraged by that
wonderful testimony.
Listen, KC was a tough
dude in brutal fights,
a tough guy with big goals.
And as tough as he was,
he acknowledged
and he admitted he
was not tough enough
to overcome the
lusts of the flesh.
And that's a struggle.
It is really for
our entire lives.
Galatians five talks about it.
The flesh and the spirit,
they're in combat
with each other.
It's a war.
And you don't need to
be frightened of that.
There's hope in Christ for sure
because through Christ,
those fleshly desires
are crucified,
we read in Galatians.
But no, this is gonna
be a thing in our lives,
fighting against the flesh.
But when he
surrendered to Jesus,
not only did he
conquer these things,
he became a better husband
because when you focus on Jesus,
you become a better spouse.
There's no doubt about it.
But I was so struck when KC
said he went into this club,
he knew he shouldn't be there
and he was literally trembling.
Remember he said that,
"My hand was shaking,"
because his spirit knew
this was not for him.
His spirit was disturbed.
And that's a good thing when
your spirit speaks and says no.
I mean that's the
Spirit of God saying,
"This is not what
I have for you."
And he finally began to
listen to the voice of God
and the Holy Spirit and saying,
"I need to submit
these things to you."
Even Paul talked
about it in Scripture,
obviously different
circumstances
for Paul, the Apostle Paul.
But he said, "The things
I want to do, I don't do.
And the things I don't want
to do, I find myself doing."
So this is a natural part
of the human condition.
But the great news is
when we bring these things
under the submission of Jesus,
the Holy Spirit steps
in in a powerful way
and brings these
lusts under control,
under the authority of Christ.
And He takes our sin
and He makes us clean
because of the sacrifice
of Christ on the cross.
I wanna pray for two things
in just a couple
of minutes here.
I wanna pray for
marriages briefly
and also for those of you
struggling with a lust problem.
Many people, many
people who love Jesus
succumb to this issue of lust.
So I'm gonna pray
for these things now.
If you're struggling
with lust, pray with me.
Or if you're in a marriage
that needs a touch
and anointing from the
Holy Spirit of God,
let's just go
before the Lord now.
Father God, first I
pray for marriages
and for husbands and wives
who are struggling, Lord.
I pray your Holy
Spirit will teach them
to get our pride out of the
way and just focus on Jesus.
And as we love our
first love, Jesus, more,
we will become better
spouses, Father.
And I pray for those
struggling with lust,
the lust of the flesh.
Lord, I pray they
hear your voice today
and understand the hope that's
in the grace of Jesus Christ.
And no matter how filthy
dirty we feel we are
or we know we are,
we're never too far gone.
We're never too dirty for
the loving arms of Jesus
to embrace us, accept
us and change us.
And Lord God, I pray right now
that those struggling
in these areas
will just feel your Holy
Spirit's love upon them
in a powerful and mighty way
and they stop listening
to the voice of darkness
and hear the voice
of God clearly.
Thank you for the hope,
the grace and forgiveness
found at the cross of Christ.
For these things I pray
in Jesus' name, Amen.
I wanna let you
know for any concern
you have in these areas,
you can give us a call
at 1-800-700-7000.
We'd love to pray for you.
And we talked about
marriage a bit too.
We have a great
resource for you.
It is called "Love & Marriage."
We'd love to send it out to you.
If your marriage
is tough right now,
you can download a free copy
of this information at CBN.com
or call us at 1-800-700-7000
and just say, "Can you send me
the 'Love & Marriage' book?"
And we think it'll
really speak to you
and provide great assistance.
1-800-700-7000.
- When you're lied to,
there's a certain amount of
betrayal that takes place.
We both came to the realization
that there was no
hope in this marriage.
I just felt the Holy Spirit
really impressing in me
to look past my own pain
and to see how Christ sees her.
God was doing something in me
and doing something in her.
- I felt God tell me
that I needed to get
on my face before Him.
And it was three days
after finding out
that an affair was taking place,
I was able to genuinely forgive.
I saw such a clear
vision of these chains
that were attached to her
and I was like, no, I
just want her to be free.
And in that moment, God did
something so miraculous.
- I was so sorry for
how I had hurt him.
I just asked him if
he could forgive me
and our marriage has never
been the same since then.
- He took something
that was so broken
and because of genuine
forgiveness and
genuine repentance,
He made something so beautiful.
- Give me that.
(laughs) Bye.
Ah, sure life is busy,
but I found a way to make
a huge difference
in people's lives.
I guess you could say
I'm changing the world
right here from home.
I bring medical supplies and
doctors to people in need
and dig wells so that
villagers can have
clean and safe water to drink.
I make it possible
to preach the gospel
in over 100 countries,
including right here in America.
And when disaster
strikes, I'm there,
providing food, thank you,
and emergency supplies to
give people hope again.
Every day, CBN and I are making
the world a better place.
There you go.
My life is hectic,
so I joined CBN
through Pledge Express.
My bank does all the work
and I know that my
gift is being used
where it's needed most.
So become a CBN partner
and join Pledge Express
because you can
do a world of good
right from where you are.
Hi, good morning.
Are you ready to get started?
- Orphan's Promise is committed
to loving and serving
at-risk children,
to helping keep
families together
and to creating opportunities
for strong and sustainable
communities around the world.
We are working in over 60
countries around the world
and with your help,
we can do even more.
There's an old African
proverb I love that says,
"If you wanna run
fast, run alone.
But if you wanna run
far, run together."
At Orphan's Promise,
we want to run far
so we can touch the
lives of as many orphaned
and vulnerable
children as possible.
But we don't wanna go alone.
We are out to change the world,
one child, one family,
one community at a time.
Will you join us?
(bright music)
- When I was a young girl,
I went to fetch
water for my mother.
The weight of the water
made my neck hurt so bad.
I just poured the water out
and went home with
an empty container.
The stream is very far
and I go four times a day.
I get home exhausted.
I feel terrible
drinking that water
and giving it to my family.
We often get intense
stomach aches and vomit.
When my son was three, he
got very sick from the water.
Thank you Operation Blessing
for giving us a new life.
When you came, we
were all so grateful
we could not hold back our joy.
I've never had this
kind of water before.
Every time I drink it,
I feel good and healthy.
With the well this close,
even my daughter can
easily fetch water.
We are healthy and we are happy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

that's the beginning story.

- Hadija was only 13 years old
when she was forced into
an arranged marriage.
What's worse,
the child bride's husband
beat her repeatedly.
Hadija still bears the
physical scars of his abuse.
But now thanks to you,
she and her young
daughter have a happy home
and a future full of hope.
- [Narrator] At the
tender age of 13,
Hadija was forced to
marry against her will.
- My husband was very abusive.
I went back to my parents
and told them I couldn't stay
because he beat me often.
I have scars from what
his abuse did to me.
They told me to be
patient and to persevere,
that he would change.
I endured the pain until it
was just too much to bear.
One day I was in our house
and something kept telling
me to get up and go.
I couldn't resist the voice.
I stood up, walked away
and came to a home
of a Christian lady.
She opened her door to me and
introduced me to her pastor.
They prayed with me
and led me to Christ.
With my husband being a Muslim,
I knew I wouldn't
survive going back
after I became a Christian.
- [Narrator] A
pastor connected her
with Christian Faith Ministries,
which is partly supported
by CBN's Orphan's Promise.
Now, 18 year old
Hadija and her daughter
stay in our crisis care home.
They have everything they
need to grow and prosper.
- Before coming
here, I felt so lost.
You opened your arms to
me and helped me heal.
This is a family and
this is our home.
Through your Christian
discipleship program,
you've helped me grow in
my relationship with God.
I talk with Him
and He answers me.
Everything in me is
happy because of Jesus.
- [Narrator] Many different
vocational programs
are offered here.
Hadija enrolled
in sewing classes.
- I make dresses for
myself and my daughter.
Sometimes she will sit on my lap
and it's like we are
doing it together.
It's so exciting to
say, "I made this."
- Both of them also
attend school here.
- It's an indescribable joy
learning to read and
write in English.
It's like magic.
My world has changed completely.
In Nigeria, a lot of young girls
are given as child brides
against their will.
Sometimes I wonder
why God saved me
and gave me this
place of refuge.
I want to become a lawyer
so I can help young girls
and give them a future.
I'm amazed at how
much mercy and grace
I have been blessed with here.
Thank you for your
kindness and heart for God.
May God give you the
grace and strength
to keep doing His good work.
May He continue to open
doors for you to help others
and may your
blessings never end.
- Jesus said He came to
set the captives free.
And when you support
this kind of work,
it's happening not
just in Nigeria,
but in other parts
of the world as well
and it's happening because
of your generosity.
We are able to bring the
truth of who Jesus is
into the lives of people
who are truly trapped,
trapped by culture,
trapped by things that
have been taught to them
over the years
that are not true,
trapped by religious trappings.
We say thank you,
700 Club members.
When you support the
work of Orphan's Promise,
we're CBN's outreach to
children around the world
who are vulnerable and orphaned
and this young woman was.
So thank you for helping

to be there for her daughter.
She's just one of thousands.
You make that happen.

Ephesians 2:10, for
we are God's handiwork
