- Thank you, Tara.
Well, Congressman Troy Nehlsis a Republican from Texas
and he joins us now.
Congressman, thank you forcoming on this evening.
The Biden administrationsays the border is closed,
but a lot of these imagesthat Tara was showing us,
they don't convey that.
Over the weekend, the mayor of Del Rio,
who we heard from inTara's story, had this.
He tweeted, "The VP is able to visit
the fun events across the country
while American communitiescontinue to grapple
with failed immigration reform.
Where is the visit to Del Rio, Texas?"
Does the administration, congressman, have a grasp
on how serious thesituation is at the border?
- Jenna, thank you for having me.
It's interesting that Mayorkas said,
DHS Secretary Mayorkas saidmonths ago the border is closed
and I believe he may haveeven said it again today
that our border is closed.
I've been down to the border.
I've been to Del Rio.
I've been to Laredo allthe way to Yuma, Arizona,
to San Diego, California,
and I can assure youand the American people
that our Southern border is not closed.
You don't have 1.2 millionpeople over the last nine months
making that trek fromcountries across the world,
across the globe.
Initially it was, "Well, we're worried
about the Northern Triangle countries."
We've had individuals thathave been brought over
from Ecuador, Russia, China.
They're coming from every place.
And so, no, the border is not closed.
They're in denial.
But I think this is an orchestrated plan
by this administration.
This isn't by accident.
But what do you think,Jenna, was going to happen
when you have a president whowas a candidate back then,
even before he was sworn in,that invited everybody over.
He said, "Come on over,
come on over to thisgreat country of ours."
So, now they're here.
We've been dealing withthis crisis for nine months,
and now he wants to tell those from Haiti,
"You're going back."
Good luck with all that.
- By some estimates, Congressman,
there are anywhere between12 to 15,000 people
in those makeshift camps in Del Rio.
How far along is this DHSmass deportation effort?
And then secondly, canI get you to comment,
your colleague on theHomeland Security Department,
Chairman Bennie Thompson, istalking about the mistreatment
of using whips and horses
to round up these Haitian migrants.
Would you care to comment on that as well?
- Oh, I don't know what Bennie's watching.
I don't know.
It's so sad that this immigrationpolicy or lack thereof
is so partisan today,
but I don't know what Bennieis necessarily referring to.
We do know that theDepartment of Public Safety
from the great state of Texas is there
with the National Guard tohelp augment the border patrol.
And what your listeners need to understand
is that that is the state of Texas' money.
Because the Federal Government refuses
to secure our Southern border,
Governor Abbott fromthe great state of Texas
was spending taxpayer dollars from Texas
to augment the border patrol.
But I'm not sure what he's referring to.
I'm sure that there are many individuals
that are trying to run and maybe evade
or they don't wanna be apprehended.
But again, I'm going to reserve comment.
All I do know is this,is I've been down there,
I've been at the borderand I've seen people,
hundreds of them, justwalking across the Rio Grande
through Del Rio to come to America
because they truly understand
that this Federal Government of ours
that's spending trillions of dollars,
that we will line their pockets with cash,
we will give them healthcare,
we're gonna educate their children,
we're gonna educate their older children
by giving them some free college.
And eventually folks, let's not forget,
we want to make you all citizens.
And this is Joe Biden andI approve this message.
- Congressman Troy Nehls ofTexas, we will leave it there.
Thank you for coming on.
- Thank you, Congressman.- Thank you, God bless.
